Amazon Firesticks Q

anyone have one of these or know anything about them?

My buddy at work has a connection for "fully loaded jailbroken TVfiresticks" and is sellin them for 125. Are these worth it? Safe for tv? Etc etc He tells me I could get rid of Netflix, my sports packages, HBO, and will never need to rent a movie again... What's the catch? Why aren't these Amazon Firesticks more popular?

I'm no tjc , but I am an amazon fan and I have a fire stick. The regular one I have is about $40 and is very similar to the Google Chrome cast stick. These are plugged directly into any tv or monitor with an hdmi port. It needs a wifi connection and allows you to access amazon prime as well as Netflix, ESPN and other apps. To watch Netflix, HBO, etc. You need to have a subscription. The one the guy is selling you is pre loaded with hacked versions of movies and access to live streamed sports events. I am leery of these because I'm afraid they could put a virus on other computers on a home network, but again, ask tjc because I'm not sure.

Hacked devices, while they sound good, are a real security risk. They can open up a hole in your wifi network that will let hackers track you and/or infect your other devices on your network. Remember the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't." (Or however that saying goes -)
