Is there a bigger piece of sh*t in the NBA than this guy? Plays THIRTY mins in the all-star game, looking spry as can be. Then decides he will sit down and not play the rest of the year after not playing much leading into the all-star game. Yet he plays almost more mins than anyone in the all-star game. What a f*cking clown.

No NBA team will ever win with this ballhog clown chucker.

Redonkulous, Clark.

I hate Carmelo as much as the next guy and think he is supremely overrated but this wasn't really his call totally. The team has been asking him to hang it up as early as 3-4 weeks ago but he kept playing regardless. He probably shouldnt' have played in the all star game but it's barely a real basketball game and there's minimal risk of actually getting hurt. So he played in the game in his home town which he'll never get a chance to again and will shut it down like the team has been asking him to. It's easy to make a big deal out of this because Melo is a selfish asshat, but his probably isn't the right venue to.

He's getting paid a max contract to play real games for the real franchise that pays his salary. If you're not going to play for that team you dont go out and play in a bullsh*t game that means nothing and play 30 mins. It's totes redonkulous.

I don't watch a lot of nba basketball because the nba sucks, but I thought melo's free agency was one of the more hilarious things I ever saw. Why did anyone give him. Big contract?

G-dog, few thoughts. First, Melo played in the AS game because he was the host in the Garden. Second, if you saw the game it was quite obvious he could hardly jump. He could barely dunk the ball. Third, he's doing the Knicks a favor by sitting out. He needs surgery. The Knicks are trying to lose games (DMIL). They want him healthy for next season. Surgery and then rehab. He's got a 4-6 month recovery. He goes under the knife now and should be ready for camp next season. Why in the world would he play the rest of this season? C'mon now, just a silly post.

Between the Stoudamire love poetry and now saying that Carmelo is doing the Knicks a favor, CoDBers are starting to sound a lot like CoPers.

you really think this was 100% Melo's call? come on

couple this with the Amare buytout and they are clearly tanking. which is OK around here, apparently.

Regardless of what one my think of Carmelo (not a big fan personally) he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't here. Season's been over, the procedure is essential for him moving forward - so why wait? Makes no sense to wait. He slogs through the rest of the season then announces he needs surgery and will miss two months of the year - he and the Knicks would be crushed for that and rightfully so.

Tanks away I say - it's been established you can be called a genius for doing this.

Can barely jump and barely dunk despite being 6'8....yet out there playing 30 mins in a totally meaningless all-star game. Makes sense.

Melo plays in NY, the ASG was in NY, i applaud him for playing and giving whats left of the Knicks fan base a hometown guy to watch.

he will go down as one of the best scorers ever, just not a team guy and has a lot of dog in him. and he isnt hurt, no tears no structural damage, his knees are just wearing out so he'll get a scope and clean it out , try to save the cartilage around the patella and try and prolong is career. especially since he is owed so much money.

the knicks are trying to tank, so they can better achieve that without him and hope to get #1 and have Melo back for next year. its not rocket science.

Melo is about Melo. Always has been, always will be. The all-star venue is the ultimate "me me me" event. His type of thing, ya know. So him playing in that stupid ass playground game over playing real team games that matter just fit his M.O for me. I just cant stand chucker me-first clowns like him. And if you think he's being a "team player" by not playing in games while they tank, that's just laughable. He's part of the reason they suck! You think he cares to play in these games? You think he in any way is fighting the Knicks to play in these games? Of course he not. He can go on vacation now and get paid to do nothing since no one is watching the Knicks games now anyway. Everyone was watching the All Star game so naturally he was out there. He's a selfish gunner who cares about his brand and nothing else.

wasnt Jordan the ultimate me first player? he was just that good so his teams won. he did hold his teammates accountable for their play and played defense like a mad man but offensively he was all about his and his image and brand off the court.
