Former Villanova footballer named head coach if the CoP Union

Boston College product charlie Davies with a big goal the afternoon in the second leg of the semi finals match

The athletic future for northeast private schools is the beautiful game of futbol. Time for Villanova to make its move.

This is old news about Jim Curtain. Posted by one note qwe. You have too much time on your hands. Maybe if you got a job and could hold it you might be less of a pain of a poster.

Charlie Davies, from boston college, with another huge goal. Sends New England to the finals.

Charlie Davies is a bigger name in futbol than any Villanova football players. We should take note.

And Jim curtain was only recently named head coach of the CoP Unions. He was an interim coach. Jim Curtain is now a bigger name in sport than any Villanova football players.

Time to prioritize. Stop throwing good money after a bad product and start investing in the future!!

Jim Curtin took over on June 1 as an interim coach. Made permanent on Nov.12 ,17 days ago.
Howie Long, Brian Westbrook, Matt Szczur

Ironically he makes some rational posts on the basketball board unlike the broken records on here.

Bowie long graduated in the 1979's
Westbrook was at nova in the 1990's
Who the heck is Caesar? That's a friggin reach.

Jim Curtain is the best known villanova footballer of this millennium. Fact.

VU MLB athlete mocked by troll

Mocking Matt Szczur, a true Villanova hero, is his comeback attempt after air-balling his infamous prediction that VU's hoops team would "likely lose" to Virginia Community College last Monday night.

Re: VU MLB athlete mocked by troll

Caesar is a gr8 villanovan. As far as notable athletes go, he is below charlie Davies. Heck, he is below Jim curtain. That's just the truth

Qwe knows nothing about true greatness. Matt's football exploits were great, but in addition to that, he saved the life of a little girl by donating bone marrow less than week before an important playoff game. Today, Matt is on the Chicago Cubs ... all testament to both his athletic prowess & humanitarianism. Doubt Curtain or Davies could top that .. ever.

I have been reading this site for a while becuase I always like to stay in touch with the University. People like this qwe guy amaze me in why they try to bring negativity on such a good sport and great school. I get that you want to pump up your soccer team and your passion for pushing for a powerhouse Soccer and Lacross program but if you say that Jim Curtain is the best footballer to come out of Nova then why cant you spell his name correctly?!?!

When you go to his Wiki page it is spelled Jim CURTIN
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Curtin

He does deserve congrats, but reading up on him, it is hard to compare an decent soccer player to someone such as Brian Westerbrook who held and or holds NCAA (all division) records, in conversations as being the best EVER Eagles RB, Super Bow Appearance, and multiple Pro Bowls.

You also mentioned Brian in the 90's, Brians last season with us was in 2002 which from the Wiki page, is 2 years after Jim CURTIN's last in 2000.

There are so many other great stories such as Matt S and careers like Ray Ventrone who has spent 9+ years in the NFL as a part of 3 teams including the 18-0 Patriots and also appeared in the Super Bowl.

I could continue to go on but really what ever it seems you give this guy/girl, they just try to spin it.

PS you want to go over coaching career since that is where Jim looks to have success, former WR JJ Outlaw is currently coaching with the LA Lakers as an Assistant. Maybe he will follow in his fathers footsteps and make this a career and maybe in a few years we are talking about JJ making a big impact in that part of the world. If you also dig in and look at all the former coaches at VU many have gone on to become assistance, OC's and DC's in major college and professional programs. Which also brings light to the overall VU Football Program.

Sorry for the long post. This is the first time I actually posted something.

Great first post WCVU. Negativity of the poster you refer to is a disease which can tear down healthy, normal individuals. It's close to defeatism which was a capital offense in wartime not long ago.If you don't enjoy Villanova sports as they exist today keep it to yourself since no one else is interested in foreign sports of no interest in US except to provide exercise for young children.

Let's not forget another Walter Payton Award winner, Brian Finneran, who played 10+ years for the Atlanta Falcons. The guy was amazing ... made millions of dollars ... I think he won his Payton award within 2-3 years of Westbrook.

There was a guy named Long, too. First name HOF or Howie? I think he works out west somewhere. Maybe LA? He talked his boss into giving a tv contract to some prairie league that bought the name rights to the Big East. You've probably seen them on TV. DePauw or DePaul? South Orange Catholic? That's them.

Howi long and Brian Westbrook were a loooooong time ago. Ceasar is a minor league baseball player in the worst team in baseball.

Jim Curtin is a superstar on the rise. Charlie Davies is an American hero. Villanova football has not produced anything as gr8 as these superstars in over a decade.

Charlie Davies once played soccer for Boston College. His promising international career was cut short by an auto accident. He is still involved in Minor League Soccer with the Foxboro (Mass.) Revolution. Nice guy.

Jim Curtin once played soccer for Villanova. He scored 5 goals in Minor League Soccer. He coaches the Chester (Pa.) Union at PPL Park. Another nice guy.

These athletes are credits to their schools. Making more of them to discredit everything our #6 football program has accomplished over 30 years is a disconnect, to put it mildly.

What villanova football players are doing more on the international stage than Jim curtin or charlie davies?

Charlie Davies is huge right now. A former international star who had his career derailed by a car accident but is back to his peak performance and just led his team to the mls cup. Matt Ceasar's minor league baseball career is not on that level. Matt ceasar is a gr8 villanovan, but his college football career went unrecognized outside of the 19085 and his baseball career is on the same level as Michael jordan's baseball career. Yawn!!

What Villanova athlete is more well known on the international stage that Jim Curtin?

How about Sonia O'Sullivan, who won a silver medal in the 2000 Olympics or maybe these Villanova Olympians:

I notice the drop off of our track athletes recently. Maybe we could put some of that football money back into track?

We had football back then too. In fact we've had football since 1893, except for 4 years in the 1980s.

Any drop off in track is because of Title Nine. VU gives more schollys to track women than to men.
