Coughlin?

Gotta be kidding. Coughlin? Out of all of the prospective college hot shot coaches and coordinators out there, Coughlin? He's going to turn 70 before the season starts.

Doesn't make much sense to me if this is the direction the Eagles go. He's obviously had success in the league and is more known commodity as opposed to a Doug Pederson or Sean McDermott, but it just doesn't make sense. I thought the Eagles were foolish not to even interview Hue Jackson - he was the guy I would have liked most followed by McDermott.

Any time you can land an aging coach that hasn't landed a 10 win season in 6 years, you've got to do it. I mean, his players hate him, but will change their tune and decide they like him if they win a Super Bowl on a jump ball in the middle of the field.

Andy Talley for head coach. Brad Childress OC, Brian Dawkins DC. Like to see a CEO type of head coach who trusts his offensive and defensive coordinators to handle x and o will he manages the fragile egos of today's players.
Grew up watching sharp dressed coaches like Hank Stram assume the role of leader and shaping the big picture. Today,s coaches look like poorly groomed air traffic controllers, with all of the electronic devices attached to their bodies franticly running up and down the sidelines. That is why you have assistants.

I agree. Apparel should definitely be a deciding factor in coaching selection. I would take Jack Del Rio any day over Belichick.

pulling his name apparently. good, way too old for that rebuild. mcdermott or pederson it is.

McDermott hasn't even been interviewed. I think it's Pederson, maybe Shurmur.

valid point on mcdermott. i'm still holding out hope there. not sure i like pederson as the HC - does he keep shurmur? which means hopefully that they keep bradford. or is this a complete andy reid redo multi year rebuild situation. if that's the case, at least we know that we already have the necessary c+ receivers.

My only hesitation on Pederson is that none of the coaches from Reid's tree on the offensive side have fared too well. But Pederson seemed to do a good job in KC this season when Charles went down. The running game did not miss a beat with West and Ware. I know Reid said he gave up some of the play calling duties to Pederson at times but who knows how much of that is true.

None of these names are better than chip kelly absent the player control responsibilities.

Have fun against those NFC West defenses, Chipper. Enjoy.

chip to san francisco - where is rayhad to give us the conspiracy theory on this move and how perfect it is?

guess kaepernick stays employed for another year.

As a 49er fan I'm cautiously optimistic about this. But they need a ton of players on both sides of the ball and overloading on offense in the early draft rounds would be a mistake.

Chip will need to be a genius to survive in that spot. We have seen how he has fared against the NFC West while he was here and now he's gotta see them 6 times a year. Almost an impossible situation for him to succeed. They will need to be very patient with him. He's not exactly a patient personality. Will be a fascinating follow.

now he gets to spend an entire game bitching to the refs for pass interference against seattle twice a year

Isnt that three years of alex smith though?
That's also total yards......when you look at points they are:

2013 - 6 (tied)
2014 - 16
2015 - 9

More importantly they have ranked near the bottom at giveaways which has been the Eagles biggest bugaboo on offense.

Childress is fine as OC. Not as a head guy. Get Schwartz or Pettine as DC.

thats why his resume reads the following

2011- out of NFL
2012- Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator
2013 to present- game spread analyst for KC (whatever that means)

So Childress hasnt had any success as an offensive coordinator? Guess what genius, you need PLAYERS. He had them when he was Eagles OC. He didnt have them in Clev. Shocking he failed there. Do you know who was on the Browns offense then?

do the Eagles have "players" right now? their offensive personnel stinks, for the most part

Compared to the Browns in the one year he was there? Yes, he has players. They need more. Thanks to the douche who just left town.
