it's hard to believe that, totally independent of the reid connection, pederson just happened to be the best candidate. doesn't really matter with the f--king craters durning left on that roster

Eagles have some good personnel on D. Cox, Logan, Thornton, Curry, Graham, Barwin, Hicks, Kendricks in the front 7. 2 solid safeties in Jenkins/Thurmond and a seemingly promising CB in Rowe. Maxwell needs a proper scheme fit. Carroll isn't a bad player. They're not devoid of talent on D. They were devoid of a proper coordinator. We all knew the Billy Davis hire was atrocious. Put Schwartz or Pettine in charge of this core with a few personnel tweaks and a proper scheme and the D can be pretty good. Not being on the field for more time than any other defense in the league won't hurt either. The biggest question is the offense. They're seemingly stuck with Murray so they need to alter the offense to a power run base and scrap the shotgun. Ertz is good. Matthews is entrenched in the slot. Offensive line needs to be majorly bolstered at the guard spots and the team badly needs a speed WR as well as an upgrade on the outside. And of course the QB issue. That's kind of important.
