Rivals' Corey Evans thinks so. We mentioned Evans was impressed with Nova's 2019 standing, both with the the two recruits who have already pledged and with Villanova's position with remaining targets, last week and now Evans has reiterated those feelings in this week's Twitter Tuesday segment.
Asked to predict which schools will land top five classes in 2019, Evans listed four programs in the best position to finish with a top five class and then a group of wild cards that could claim the fifth spot. Making that top four list was Villanova. Joining Villanova in Evans' projections were Duke, Kentucky, and USC. The programs in contention for the fifth spot were Memphis, UConn, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina and Kansas.
Villanova already has a very solid foundation in the 2019 class with Eric Dixon and Justin Moore, but getting a top five class will likely be contingent on landing two of its remaining targets: Isaiah Wong, Isaiah Stewart, Nico Mannion, Bryan Antoine, Scottie Lewis, and Josh Green. Evans' willingness to list the Wildcats is an indication that he feels they will land at least one of those prospects and possibly two.
Things should continue to get clearer over the next few weeks as players make cuts to their lists and begin to schedule visits. Isaiah Wong cut his list to five yesterday, and a cut to Mannion's list is expected in the very near future.
It's encouraging to know that the Cats already have such a solid start to the 2019 class, and it is exciting that they are in such good position with their remaining targets. It sets the stage for an exciting few months as we await the start of the season, and it's great to see Nova running with the best of the best on the recruiting trail.
