The men look to be better than last year, losing Hugo Beamish from the top 7 but adding Ryan Sheridan. The guys look to be quite deep: Sheridan, Gibney, Mildenhall, Long, K. Capecci(?), Kane, Mackenzie, LoRusso, and anyone else who enters the fray (McEntee, Denault?).
The women's depth issue now looms large. Last year's team was top-4 heavy, with Lipari thrust into the job of holding down #5 as a true frosh. She did the trick, and the women repeated despite not having great depth. Now, however, they lose All-Americans Amanda Marino and Ali Smith (who were Villanova's 2nd and 3rd finishers at last year's national title race). Georgetown is the clear #1 in the women's voting. They return 6 of the top 7 from last year's team. Comparing the top 5 Villanova women returnees' performance at the 2010 NCAA championships race (404 places) with Georgetown's (222 places) shows why they're ranked ahead of Villanova this year.
