Eagles heading to the Super Bowl?!?

This. Unless you want to say that running a play out of the shotgun formation with a running back automatically makes it read option (silly argument IMO), he was not running the read option on that play. He handed off from the get go and didn't try to fake or block. On an earlier play in the game, was different, and perhaps that what was Harbaugh and Suggs were seizing on, but not the same play.

Like it or not, QBs are protected, shouldn't be diving at their knees, really this goes back to Bryce Paup, more recently the uproar over Tommy Boy's knee getting taken out. Suggs is and has been a punk.

Change Suggs to an anonymous DL and change Bradford to Sanchez and no one gives a shit. Eagles fans are reacting to this because they realize their season rests on a QB who's played 7 games in 2 seasons.

Change Bradford to Brady or Rodgers or Peyton and Blandino doesn't say d-ck this week, and Suggs is getting an envelope with a love-gram from Troy Vincent looking for some $$$.

Quarterbacks are protected but not when they become a running back which is what occurs in the read option. This is why the head of officiating for the NFL said it was a bad call. Chip is pandering trying to say they don't run the read option they are just handing the ball off while in the shotgun. Then don't play fake and roll. They are not going to change the rules for a glass jaw quarterback like bradford. Chip will need to adjust to his oft injured quarterback that he traded for and get rid of the read option or live with the consequences.

Regardless of any of this. It was a cheap move to go down at his knees. What is so hard to understand? Most DE/DL run through the QB unless they are engaged with a OL or get knocked off balance in pursuit. Neither of this happened. ie the player who blasted Bradford in the sternum a few plays later. That was a clean, hard, hard hit that drove the QB to the ground.

Piper, one more time, which team do you follow in the NFL? If no one, then say so.

NFL protect's their stars. Like it or not.

Sam Bradford = Who?

So if a guy gets fooled, it's a penalty? Would Suggs have been better off going after Bradford ' s head?

Fooled? Stop it.

No, go for anywhere between his head and knees. And maybe don't make it look so obvious next time.

Isn't the purpose of running that type of play to fool the defender into not knowing who has the ball

Since no one posted... I don't think its that dirty. If Bradford just takes the hit he doesn't get wrapped up by the legs.

I agree that it's not as bad as I first thought or as bad as some the still photos depict. I disagree with the if Bradford just takes the hit thought. Suggs goes low for the knee area. Just run through him at the midsection.

Pretty much every play an offense runs has a purpose to fool the defense. Every team runs a one-back, QB in the shotgun, play that has the option to hand it off or throw off a fake.

Why do you continue to avoid my question?

Holy crap. Do you watch football. They are running read option with one of the options being RUNNING (see what i did there) that is why the rules treat the quarterback as a running back on that type of play. The rules don't change because you are an Eagles fan who has a brittle quarterback.

Not every play is a read option. There are plenty of handoffs while in the shotgun throughout the NFL.

But again, for the 100th time. It's not so much that he was hit, but how he was hit.

Are you the new douchebag on the board? How do you know I'm an Eagles' fan? And why haven't you answered a simple question?
