No. He made an educated personal decision. He made it clear this was his decision and his decision alone. He's not trashing football but stated clearly it was not worth the risk to him. Others are free to make their own decision.Originally posted by nardibynature123:
I am fine with this guys decision, my question is should he be trashed by people if he goes into football in some capacity?
Why wouldn't the kid play? Maybe he enjoys it.Originally posted by adp98:
spg, one of my buddies played center for 15 seasons in the NFL. Recently he had to get his knee replaced. I'll never forget a story he told us after the procedure. He was with the doctor and they were discussing the process and the doctor said something in regards of how long they expected the knee to last. My buddy told me how he looked at the doctor and just said something to like, let's be honest, I'm not living until I'm 75 so it really doesn't matter. He attributes this to playing football and as he describes running into a brick way hundreds of time per day for 20 years. What is interesting to me is his son is 10. Huge kid like his daddy. I always ask him why he allows his kid to play football. The kid is a very talented hoops/baseball player. We usually have these discussions when we're sitting on the beach. He's sitting in his chair because he's usually sitting there due to the 17 surgeries he's had on that knee. Doesn't make any sense to me but what do I know.
Your responsibility as a parent does not mean giving into every. Whim your child might enjoy. Especially in light of experience that tells you it's bad for your children.Originally posted by CWertz:
