Both coaches were very pleased as we dominated at the season's opener. They were especially impressed with our times compared to running the same course last year.

There are detailed write-ups on the university site. I hope some of our real
experts post their thought; I would like to hear about which runners might
surprise on both teams.

Yes, Hogan and Akande really improved their times over last year; however, what's really interesting is that Hogan's time was under Marino's and Mimic's times from last year (16:43.99 to 16:48.10 and 16:48.58). Also, Akande's time was under Smith's and Lipari's (16:49.49 to 16:54.62 and 17:21;41) and only a shade off Marino and Mimic. Chapman and Shappert were both under Lipari's time (17:06.62 and 17:16.90. Based on this Nova may be a lot stronger than some experts think, and Akande looks to be vastly improved. It will be interesting to see what happens as the distance increases.

excattguy,

Thanks a bunch; that was the information I was looking for. Any surprises om the men's team? At the present, Tully Runners has Cain who is only a soph, and Fanning from FM as the fastest Xcountry young ladies in the east. The season has a long way to go.
