Lots of chatter about this cat. Is the "Zinger" legit? Are the Lakers really considering him at 2? Is he the best player available when the Sixers draft at 3? Does Hinkie draft another big under the cloud of uncertainty with Embiid? Discuss....

Never seen the kid play. If the Sixers take him then I guess I'll have to live with it. I have no say. Maybe, he'll end up being the best player.

sixers really need a guard. has to be Russell if he is there. but who knows what Stinky Hinky has planned.

Depends how you define significant impact. And if you define Euro player as not having player college ball in the US.

Giannis for the Bucks and Schroeder for the Hawks are very young guys who could be solid stars. There's were a number of solid big men a few years ago - MGasol, Vucevic, Splitter, Scola, etc.

Chad Ford released his 7.0 mock draft:

1. Towns (Min)
2. Okafor (LAL)
3. Porzingus (PHI)
4. Russell (NYK)
5. Hezonja (ORL)
6. Mudiay (SAC)
7. Winslow (DET)

Says Hinkie has like Porzingus for awhile despite all of the Russell/Mudiay chatter. However, also mentions that one executive told him that it's a smokescreen because supposedly ORL loves Porzingus and Hinkie is trying to get them to swap picks and grab something else in the process.

Also, read that the Knicks want to trade out of pick unless Okafor/Russell fall to them.

One pundit exclaimed there is a ton of lying in the two weeks before the draft, so who knows what it real or not.

Wow, nothing gets by that pundit.

He seems to be more tapped in than most. Also, his player evaluations seem to be solid throughout the process. Not saying its Gospel, though.

Not sure my post required your dickheaded remark.

What's dickhead about my remark? Making fun of a "pundit" for saying the single most obvious thing there is to say about this or any other draft in the history of modern pro sports? Just curious.

Was it this guy?

What was the single most obvious thing he stated? The Porzingus angle is pretty fresh. Or, was it something else?

I'm not buying this Porzingis stuff. Unless they are gonna move Saric the 2 just seem redundant. Not the same player but both guys together probably get torched defensively. Not buying this.

That's fair, but part of me thinks that they are still in take the best player mode and figure it out later. Could be wrong about that and I have no clue if he feels that KP is the 3rd best player. However, a lot of the talking heads are promoting this kid right now.

sixers could be the first team to go

7'0"
7'0"
6'10"
6"10"
6'0"

the quadruple towers.

I quoted it, to make it easy for the reader. Well, some readers I guess.
I only saw the top of the quote about Ford releasing his 7.0 mock draft. And since that was the top of my post I just assumed the entire post was copied because sometimes the entire post isn't visible when quoted.

I just re-read it and it is clearer to me now. Your response wasn't dickheaded. My apologies on that. My bad.

There are a lot of good foreigners and I have no trouble drafting one with their current nba success rate.

But i still don't like Porzingis. I see them talking about his shoulder to hip ratio as if it means he will become a physical specimen - nah.

His assist rate sucks too. There's slight p&r defensive potential - but I just don't like him.

I like Hezonja. Maybe not at #3 but for my money he might have have the highest floor in the draft after Towns with his shooting and performance in the second best pro league in the world. Hezonja literally plays in the same league as Porzingis and is flat out better

The miss rate on these euros is entirely too high. Especially when taking them at the very top of a draft. It's a huge roll of the dice.

Jan Vesely
Niko Tskitishvilli
Darko Milicic
Saer Sene
Yi JianLian
Bismack Biyombo
Thabo Sefalosha
Fran Vazquez
Yaroslav Korolev
Andris Biedrins

These are lottery whiffs from the last decade. There are others. The misses are alot more than the hits, even at the top of the draft.

Gdog can you really call thabo and biedrins misses? They had solid careers.

Valanciunas
Gortat
Antic
Mirotic
Diaw
Scola (argentina but that country is essnetially euro ethnically)
Nocioni
Nurkic looks good in Denver
Montiejunas looks good in Houston before the injury
Bargnani, for all the shit he got, was getting better until the injuries started
Gallinari

There are plenty of busts at the top of the draft born and raised in the states as well. We just criticize the euros more because they stand out. You have to look prospect by prospect. And I'm on your side with Kristaps - I think his floor is way too low. But I'm not against a good Euro. Saric and Hezonja are legit - this kid Dragan Bender looks like he will be a top 3 pick in 2018(?). There's bound to be the next Parker, Nowitzki, Gasol, Ginobili at some point. I really thnk Sixers will not pick him - Hinkie has never done what has seemed "obvious" in his short tenure

And if you're including Biyombo and Sene in busts, you have to include Ibaka as a hit.

And I forgot the most recent euro big man who looks like a perennial all nba defender - Rudy Gobert who dropped to pick 27 cause of softness concerns. He's 100% legit.

Interesting read. Never knew NBA scouts dropped so many F bombs in interviews. Some of it sounds like bar conversations. Scout 2 sounds drunk.

Agree. I thought the same thing. Plus, they love throwing out, "Our league......"
