Not there, but had to be ugly. Assist to tornover not that good. Glad to see Leer hitting groove. My thoughts is that too many subs takes away from the flow and also reduces the players confidence on the floor. Yep, they are d-1 players, but a little boost every now and then can't hurt. Game never should have been that close.

Agreed. Fugly it was. After jumping out 11-0 six minutes in, it looked like another cruise to a win and then things went downhill. Lasalle outscored us 18-6 to take the lead at 18-17 and trail by only 21-18 at the break. The first 7 minutes of the second half were even worse with only a foul shot for Nova and falling behind by 7 at 29-22 before Devon Kane broke the spell with a mid-range jumper. Basically we had only scored 11 points in the previous 20 minutes of play. After trading a Nova three for two Lasalle buckets we were still down by 33-27 when the magic returned.

At the 11 minute mark Caroline Coyer got a layup after a turnover and followed that up with a three ball. Then Rachel Roberts popped in two short ones and Emily Leer bombed two threes and a layup and all of the sudden it was Nova by 11 at 44-33 with six minutes to go, capping off a 17-0 run. Harry went to the slow down offense at that point and we only put in one bucket and a trio of foul shots to hang on to a 49-45 win.

Leer pretty much put this one in the win column all by herself. In a game where the guards couldn't get much going and Laura Sweeney was off her shooting touch, Leer had a career high in points with 19, shooting 8-10 with 3 of 4 from outside the arc. Throw in seven tough boards and an assist in only 25 minutes coming off the bench and the momentum changing three balls and you can see why she deserved the game ball.

Sweeney finished with 13, all but 3 in the first half. Roberts had 7. 15 assists vs. 14 turnovers and only 7-12 from the foul line were not pretty stats either. LaSalle pushed out the defense on the perimeter and totally disrupted our offense.

Much better effort needed on Saturday to take down St. Josephs in the Lady version of the Holy War. Then we need to really buckle down on the following Tuesday if we expect to be more respectible against Princeton than we were last year.
