Not so surprising that we made the WNIT or that we are playing American in the first round (beat them in a squeaker in the 2008 WNIT). What is surprising is that they moved this game into the Midwest bracket meaning that it is unlikely that we would get a second home game out of it if we win on Thursday.
Detroit, Toledo or Cincinnati would have seemed more logical to take out of the East to the Midwest and/or Bowling Green to the South. The move may have been to ensure that we would not face a team that we had alredy played during the year until at least the quarterfinals.
Let's have some fun, get a couple of wins and some much needed post-season experience heading into next year. Hopefully the team will get to sit around on Selection Monday with a real shot at getting an NCAA bid next year. Lots of fun if you do, a real downer if you expect one and don't get it (like Temple this year or Nova in 2005 and 2006).
