Mighty Macs movie to open next weekend

Any interest in getting the usual suspects together for dinner and a movie (or movie and a dinner)? After four years the movie is finally set to release.

It would be a long ride for a movie and dinner; I hope the film does justice to what I thought was a great book.

I think the DVD is due out the week of 2/21/12.

My son reviewed the book extremely favorably for The City Paper, and he didn't think the movie was as good. I loved the book since it spoke to me as a Philly CYO kid; it was as much a sociological study as a basketball book. I wonder if the movie will get up here to the hills.

For those that care - look for cameo appearances by Katie Davis with a one-line speaking role (Nova 2003), Therese Grentz, Marianne Stanley and other orig. Mighty Macs (as a pew full of nuns), the real Cathy Rush (bank teller) and her husband (fan on the street), and others (Katie Hylak) as players.
