Took Nats, dodgers and pirates over.

It's 4.5 wins less than 2014, and they have not done anything to get better, have traded Rollins, will most likely jettison Hamels, dumped Byrd, and Utley and Howard are officially old players. It's going to be very close.

Baseball is a funny game. Sometimes the hits fall in at a higher rate than they did the year before. I see 72-76 wins.

So basically you are saying the subtraction of Jimmy Rollins might be worth +3 wins?

That's not what I'm saying at all.

Heading to Vegas tonight for work. I was planning on putting $100 on Mets/Phillies overs just because the NL East is that bad. But man, it's going to be tough for the phils to get to 70 wins.

The Phillies have a triple A line-up. Their saving grace is a good bullpen and terrible division. However, someone is going to lose 95 games and on paper the Phillies look like the worst team in the league. Very surprised the Pirates are so low. IMO, they are a club on the upswing. Loads of young, athletic talent.

73 wins last year, your prediction of possibly 76 this year, and all they have done is get rid of Rollins really. Help me with the math.

Dude, let it go. It's a hunch. Sometimes in baseball teams play better than projected. It happens every year. I think the pitching could be solid and keep them in games. No one is talking monumental stuff here. I said over, 72-76, so it's still a losing/bad year.

Whoa whoa whoa - no need to get testy. I thought it was a fair question. He was the team's leader, his defense was as you sai under rated, you have argued for his HoF consideration. I was just curious to see how you thought losing him and adding nothing was going to get them more wins. Again, I thought it was a fair question.

Based on this list I would take under for KCR, over for PHI, and under for WAS

Would love to hammer the Padres under. There seems to be a pretty good track record lately of teams adding a ton of players in the offseason and them not living up to expectations. Also going to hammer the Red Sox under. Really didn't like their moves at all outside of the Cubans.

And I answered it by saying that baseball is a funny (goofy) game sometimes. Again, not predicting anything outrageous. I think the pitching can be decent and might lead to a better-than-expected first half. Eventually, guys like Hamels, Lee, Paplebon might get moved and it will be hard for them to maintain. It happens every year in this game. A few teams surprise for a little while and then reality sets in and they fall back. I could see that happening with this team, thus eclipsing the 68.5 barrier.

Rollins had a HOF-conversation career to date. However, at 36ish what he has done over his entire career doesn;t necessarily project in a single year at this point. Surely, you can understand the difference.

Oh yea, call me when the Mets ever have a SS as good as Rollins was/is.

Totally agree.

Instead of batting .223 he will hit .240.

Instead of leading the league in strikeouts with 190 he will drop that down to the 170s. Howard is amazing at not reaching the 200-strikout theshold despite being at 199 twice, 190, 186, and 181 in previous years.

And up from 23 last year, 25 HRs should happen!

Did i take a single shot at Jimmy Rollins? No. In fact, citing his departure as a reason for concern is actually giving him credit here. I'm not the one who bumped up the Phillies win total in the wake of his absence. I did not call him a cancer. (nor do i believe he was) - yet you cannot stop yourself from the gratuitous Mets jab. I took no pot shots at the Phillies here. Straightforward baseball talk. Nothing more. But once again, the Pavlovian respnse.

Jesus Christ, settle down. The Mets' SS jab (call me when) was playing along with the running joke.
