[LSU-Nit]

So far:

Elbert Maxwell finished 37th of 48 competitors in Long Jump (22' 9.75") and failed to advance to next round.

Nicoy Hines ran 52.09 and finished 3rd in heat 6 (and 21st of 48 competitors)in the 400 meters hurdles. He advanced to next round.

Men's 1500 about to start: Denault in heat 1, McEntee in heat 2, and Tetreault in heat 4.

In the men's 1500 meters:

Rob Denault runs 4:07.99 to finish 11th is a slow heat #1 -- fails to advance.

Sam McEntee wins heat #2 in 3:46.37 and advances to next round Saturday.

Brian Tetreault runs 3:49.77 to finish 9th in heat #4 -- fails to advance.

In women's 1500:

Emily Lipari wins heat 3 in 4:21.37 -- advances to next round Saturday. Typical Lipari: about 6th place with 150 to go, and then a kick to win heat.

Ariann Neutts is 12th place in heat 3 in 4:30.31 -- fails to advance.

Ariann Neutts may be one of the most tactically deficient runners I've ever seen. It's a shame because she has talent.

Friday results so far:

Shericka Ward was 2nd in heat 5 of the 100 meter hurdles -- she advances to next round tomorrow.

Samantha Yeats (HJ) cleared 5' 5.75" and 5' 7.75" on her first attempts. However, she failed in 3 attempts to get over 5' 9.75" and is out of the competition.

Christie Verdier was 7th in heat 1 of the 400 meters, in 53.94. She fails to advance and is out of the competition.

Sam Wasik had 3 misses at 11' 11.75" in the women's pole vault -- she's out as well, finishing 35th of 48 competitors.

End of day 2 for Villanova competitors:

Sam Ellison set a big PR of 1:47.76 and finished 3rd in his 800 meter heat. He advances to Nationals in Des Moines.

Nicky Akande cratered in the 800 meters, finishing last in her heat in 2:12.80. Fails to advance. Great year, though -- big future.

Nicoy Hines was 7th in his 400 meter hurdles heat, in 52.61. He fails to advance.
