Why is the Giants job more prestigious than say, any other team in the NFC East?
Fish put Gase in charge of personnel as well. I'm sure that will work out famously. Don't these teams ever learn?
Giants have a ton of holes but they are still the Giants. That's a top 5 NFL job in any year
The Giants were a top 5 job before Jerry Reese became GM.
Also, I think the Steelers are probably a Top-5 job. I would put the Cowboys and Texans up there. Maybe Green Bay rounds out the Top 5.
Texans are a top 5 job? What?
So... happens everywhere?its not really that big of a deal. all it means is he cuts the players from training camp.
probably half the coaches in the league have personnel control.
The NFL is not baseball or basketball. The physical location is meaningless. You need good ownership structure and better GM's to be a great job. The Giants lack the latter. Green Bay is a better job.
The niners have loads of draft picks and cap space.Their GM has gotten it done for a while. He managed the cap exceptionally well. They had one down year after their coach left. Hire the right guy and they'll be right back contending again in no time. Even with a 5-11 record this year the Niners have won 49 games over the past 5 years. They have been consistent. That's a better job today than the Giants. You told us the 49ers are a great opening? They have neither of those two things you listed.
Now, I know you are trolling us.The niners have loads of draft picks and cap space.Their GM has gotten it done for a while. He managed the cap exceptionally well. Needing a QB in a couple of years is better than not having a QB.Peter King on the Giants HC job. He says it won't happen he'd like to see Chipper in NY. The exert, "I don’t like the chances of this happening. At all. But this isn’t necessarily about what’s going to happen. It’s about a fit that I think would be smart. Kelly’s a brilliant X’s and O’s guy who says he wants no more of the personnel duties that he blew in Philly. Eli Manning is a sponge, a durable sponge, with three years left at least, and he’d be excellent for Kelly. What hurt Kelly most in Philadelphia was not having a quarterback to execute exactly what he wanted to do. Problem solved here. But there’s still a huge talent gap on defense, so I’m not sure this is the great job everyone’s making it out to be, even though it is the New York Football Giants. Tied for number two, if I’m John Mara: Stanford coach David Shaw and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels"
Giants are a great franchise, but their GM blows, they have no D and they'll need a new QB in a few years.
