Wanted to start a thread and see if others are seeing similar trends or observations because that's all it is right now. Was at the Nova game on Saturday and bumped into a few people I know locally who were there with their kids. All of their kids were decked out in new Nova gear (I am surprised the tags weren't still on). None of these guys had any Nova affiliation and here they have 6 10 year olds in Arch and Brunson jerseys. 2 years ago you wouldn't have seen that at the WAC, and I am seeing it more and more even when just out. Sure we have some loyal fans who aren't alumni, but not to any significant degree when you talk about say a UConn (where it seems the entire state roots for them). This is not to say we are getting to that level but to say I am seeing organic growth here. I can only surmise is because of this perfect storm
Big Items
1. Absolute domination of the Big East since inception and the high NCAA seeding that went along with it.
2. Absolute pathetic showing by the Philly pro sports teams.
Smaller items
1. Fox deal. Its not so much we are on TV all the time (since most people can't find the channel or even know it exists) but the promos on the main Fox channel are by far more helpful in reaching more people.
Right now our fan base is growing but we need to grow it faster this is where Mark has to play a big role. The pro teams wont stink forever (at least I hope not) so now is the time to strike. A deep run in March/April would really help but I bet programs could be put in place now to take advantage of this situation. Once you have the fan base your ask for donations becomes much easier. Thoughts?
