Trades Brandon Boykin who then claims Kelly doesn't like being around people of black culture. Wow.

Kelly is on record as saying that culture is more important to a team then all of
schemes/systems, etc. Were these players damaging to the culture?

Boykin had a great 2013 season. I don't understand why they didn't let him have a shot on the outside last year. Certainly couldn't have been worse than fletcher. But since they had no intentions of re-signing him after this season, I guess getting a draft pick is better than nothing. But when you take a good player out of the weakest unit on the team, it's tough to see how this works in the short term.

Obviously they like the 2 rookie corners - Rowe and Shepherd. Also added Maxwell of course. Thurmond will play safety next to Jenkins. There's still Nolan Carroll and Jaylen Watkins. I always liked Boykin but not losing sleep over this one.

Boykin is a good player. trading good players for late round picks is never a good idea.

Boykin was gonna be gone in a year. Kelly hates small corners. No chance they would resign him so I guess getting a 4th rd pick isn't so bad.

that doesn't make it the right move.

Chip Kelly is not faultless.

Not gonna sweat losing a guy at the position that single handedly killed the team last year. Front 7 is one of the best in the league. Secondary was horrid. They went out and brought in 5 new DB's for a reason.

But it's nothing to lose sleep over. He played 498 of 1200+ snaps last year.

They were never going to play him on the outside. That was evident last year when they had every reason to do so. Right or wrong, they don't like 5'9" corners on the outside.

Have to say this meme of calling Kelly a racist or is somehow not sensitive to black players after each one is shown the door has already jumped the shark. The league is about 90% black so yeah black players will be cut or traded often. Imagine that.

Funny how no one accuses the guy of being racist while having no problem playing for him. He's only a racist once they are gone. So basically they were all Uncle Toms who played for a known racist all these years?

its almost as bad as reading one of balls dumb troll posts about Fran Dunphy or Rutgers.

It's too ridiculous to even address. But he can put all this to rest by cutting Riley Cooper.

Boykin amended his statement. He said Kelly isn't a racist, but guys would like to see him interact with players more.

Of course, after today's first practice Ryans, Jenkins, and Cox are downplayed any of this nonsense.

my point stands. just because they didnt do it doesnt mean it was the right move. there are CBs in the league who are short.

Right. Just like every transaction every professional sports team makes. No one knows 20 hours after a move is made if I t was the right one.

Kelly also got rid of Foles, Herremans and Mathis so please spare me the racist black/culture crap, its a joke. Its a bunch of bitter, spoiled brats that have a quick reaction and can't keep their mouths shut (maybe a reason they don't fit the eagles culture). Kelly has coached guys such as LaGarrette Blount and he is a football coach so I think he is ok with the african americans. Don't see a problem with the move, everyone on here is a coach and GM I guess.

All indications are that Boykin is a good guy. Again, upon arriving to Pittsburgh he stated that he doesn't think Kelly is a racist.

Reminds me of Theo Epsteins racial purge with the Red Sox when he traded all the brown players for dirt dawgs.

If Boykin is good and plays 60% of snaps then the pick becomes a 4th, which wouldn't be bad value for a player who only played between 40-42% snaps last year. Teams just don't trade picks much higher than this. So, I guess getting something was better than getting nothing when he would of walked after this season.

I actually liked Boykin and maybe they should of given him more of a chance on the outside. I just don't view it as a make or break move. Not much sleep would be lost over them shipping off a nickel corner. If they can't overcome this, then more than likely they are lacking in multiple areas.
