the original Rocky was a sensational film but last six have been terrible. hopefully when Rocky dies so does an chance for an 8th sequel.
There were 5 sequels. This would be 6 although not sure this counts. More of a spinoff possible franchise.

Chuck Wepner getting any royalties? who would have thought taking a beating from Ali would create a movie franchise. that guy bled just thinking about a fight.
he actually sued stallone and won a few years back. he knocked ali down by stepping on his foot and hitting him with a body shot. Ali then tortured him for 11 rds before the ref finally stopped the fight in the 15th. it was not the equally sided fight that Rocky made it out to be. Ali slaughtered him.

Can David get royalties for beating Goliath? Scrappy underdog stories are hardly original. Why does Wepner feel entitled to anything? Did he really win a judgment or did Stallone give him a few bucks to just go away?

If he dies, then the movie becomes all about what happens to Rocky, which Stallone has said is far from the case with the movie.
Stallone's ego is way too big to kill off this character in a spin-off film. If this was really his intent he would've done it in Rocky 6.
