Romney Speech

I actually think the Republican field is the strongest it has been in at least 20 years. Romney was really the only viable candidate 4 years ago, and he had shot himself in the foot repeatedly. Before that, McCain was really only guy with any chance, close to no chance. Bush never had any rivals even close to him aside from McCain. No one was beating Billy in '96, but there weren't a lot of guys ready then anyway. Aside from these guys the Republican hopefuls are usually hopeless dreck like Pat Robertson, Huckabee, Santorum.

This year, if Rubio or Kasich somehow got through, I think they'd win. Cruz would not be hopeless and would do well in the debates, win some people over. Trump is what he is.

On the Democrat side, would agree it's a very weak field.

Can't think of anything positive the Federal government has done in the last 28 years with the exception of welfare reform done by Clinton and Gingrich, which has since been repealed.
Every problem we face has roots in a government policy.
Trump wasn't even one of my top five choices but if he is elected and does nothing else but protect the borders his presidency will be tremendously successful.

Never, she has too much on people. O'bama sent emails to the server, nothing is going to happen.

That's about right. It is surreal to me that Trump is going to get the nomination. I will not vote for Hillary under any circumstances. I may not be able to vote against her either.

Why can't you vote for Hillary? Because she's a woman.

Grow up

Bush kept us all safe after 9/11. You can say 9/11 was his fault but my take on it is that we all have bad days.

Obama gave certain members of the population free Obama phones. There was also this health care thing that everyone seems to whine about but the system sucked before and it still sucks so I don't see why everyone thinks it's a big deal.

Big things coming from trumo. I am waiting for an atomic wedgie comment for Cruz. Once he goes there it's over. Trumo will then switch his stance to moderate. Would be funny to see him mock Hillary by mimicking the words she says but replacing them with Bengahzi over and over again

Can't wait.

Can I get free healthcare if I get laid off, or because I probably still earned more money than most (all) of the obamacare people over the last 3 years I have to pay for my own.

I think Kasich would actually counter-balance Trump well. Strength of practical experience both in Congress and as a Governor, with significant knowledge of foreign policy. Probably the best play for Kasich going forward is to latch on to Trump.

Hopefully he'll have a heart attack. I get the feeling that Trump would not reward his obviously self-interested endorsement. Trump seems to hold grudges well.

Trump wouldn't reward someone who basically took a lifetime bullet to help out his campaign? I don't think you know what reward means. Christie is going to make out huge with this if T wins.

I haven't been alive for a successful presidential assassination, kinda want Trump to be President because it will happen.

Attorney general brought you by Carl's Jr.
That movie really is proving prescient. First "Ow, My Balls!" in the form of Wipeout!, the breakdown of language with texting, and now this ridiculous election. Oh, and if you don't smoke Tarllytons...Fu€k you!

The idea of a Trump presidency has grown on me the last couple days - not because I like him but because I like how the establishment is losing its shit.

Hard to believe it's been over 50 years. Has the secret service gotten that much better or have would be assassins just gotten lazier? Hinckley had a chance to join the immortals but he just didn't give a damn.

Question for some of the folks on this board that are smarter than me. I took an economic course or two in school and learned about the Laffer curve, which highlights the optimum tax rate in order to maximize government revenue. Does the Cruz proposal of a flat tax leave money on the table, and given the deficit the government would need to find that revenue elsewhere. Coupled with his proposed abolishment of the IRS, how would we pull in enough money w/o having to raise taxes elsewhere?

My thought exactly.

If all the establishment money is going to little Marco, but all the votes are going to trumo, and that is driving the establishment nuts, I kind of enjoy watching this play out.

Flat taxes and abolishing the IRS are stupid populist talking points. Don't give them a second thought.
