building a football stadium on campus.. There has been rumors about this for a while. Does this article lend any credence to the Owls taking this monumental step.......?

Stadium on 15th street

I'm afraid it would be a major financial mistake. It would possibly go well the first few years, but once the novelty wore off, the apathy would return. They averaged a reported 23k in attendance this year, when everyone knows just by their own eyes, that that is inflated. Look at Houston and North Texas State which are located in a football hotbed, and they struggle. I think it would be great for Temple to have their own on campus stadium,if the interest was there.

One situation that I don't see mentioned.......that the relationship between Temple and the Linc........have heard that the Linc would like to get out of the arrangement, and TU would like the annual rental reduced......What would TU do if the Linc didn't renew the lease with Temple.....maybe PPL would be an option....But, this is all Temple's problem.

RULife, maybe Rutgers can move up from the low major level they play at now in basketball. You play in a major conference, yet your team plays at a low major level. When was Rutgers last NCAA appearance?? 1979??

Without doing a Google search isn't Temple destroying other sports to keep their football team going? Don't they realize that they will NEVER be a good team? Why waste all that money and destroy other sports to keep this thing going?

Boggles the mind that so many people here constantly rip other schools, pointing out perceived deficiencies. Don't we have enough deficiencies of our own to worry/bitch about? FB stadium, tailgating, lack of student/admin/alumni support, the Pathetic Pavilion, future after Talley, no sports promotion whatsoever, etc, etc. It's no wonder that we are not exactly loved by the "outside" world.

The Eagles didn't want Temple using their facility, Temple and the Politicians did. The Eagles likely will resist a renewal of the lease, whether they can resist the political pressure is another matter. Maybe with Chip now calling the shots for the Eagles his college football background will work in Temple's favor.

Temple can ponder this forever and it will never work. Their "fans" don't come to campus to cheer on a good hoops team They will not come to watch a s--- football program. The prez is a mid westerner. What does he know about college football in the Northeast?

and for this reason, Temple should continue to play at the Linc unless they use non-state funds to build their own stadium.

UncleEd makes a great point - if the students don't show up to support basketball games on campus for a good basketball team why would moving the FB teams to campus make any difference in attendance?

My thought is that possibly the city or whoever administers the Linc has advised Temple that their lease may not be renewed....

Thonk th temple stadium talk is just a negotiation threat in attmpt to get lower rental price from the eagles.
