He didn't even pitch well. Lots of ground balls. Not until the 8th did stuff even leave the infield. 4 walks is a downer I guess? But he's electric. Must watch TV.

Likely no.

Arrieta has been unreal though. He pitches moderately poorly for him and still throws a no hitter.

Granted, the Reds stink.

Long season but the Cubs are looking great so far. I'm bummed Schwarber is out, he can flat out hit. Not sure if he can really be an OF and having him at C makes no sense either with his offense. Rizzo is only 26 and gives you value in the field as well so it's not like you'd move him to 1B either. I guess it's a good problem to have going forward.

I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, but situations like this are why the NL needs the DH.

Cubs were going to try to platoon the outfield. Basically had four plus starters in Schwaber, Soler, Heyward, and Fowler. Now you've got three plus Szczur off the bench, which is a plus runner and defender who can be a good sub. Good problems to have.

Would love to have the Soler or Schwarber bats for late inning pinch hitting, but production wise it's still pretty good.

Pitching outside of Lester and Arrieta is weak, but if two of the three remaining starters can be competitive the team is in good shape.

Regardless, the games are must watch. 1-8 has the power and skill to jack one at any given time. Even old man Ross jacked one today.

Being a "traditionalist" and wanting the DH in the NL are fundamentally at odds. If you take the field, you should have to hit in your spot in the line up. 9 players take the field, 9 spots in the line up. The beauty of baseball is every man gets his shot and controls his own destiny. There are also thousands of little intricacies involved in the NL that the AL misses out on.

Agreed - that is why I am torn on it.
