Surprised no comments on a solid workman like win over Albany. QB 12-12 in first perfect passing game in Nova history.(152 passing yards) JR was 17 for 18 two years ago. Running game stronger with about 270 yds Defense had first shutout in two years. 3 ints. Strong building block for rest of season.

PCH you are a great VU fan. You stick with the Cats no matter what.
I disagree somewhat that the U Albany game is a turn around game for Cats. Rather a schedule turn around. U Albany is an injured, young, weak team. Their last three games, lost to HC 37-0, Maine 39 - 7 and Nova 37 - 0. Gave up 51 pts to FBS Buffalo, 42 to JMU, beat only weak URI (actually put a hurting on URI 35 - 7) and barely beat a weak Duquesne 17 - 14
However this was a good win in a must win game.
In my hopeful thoughts I think Cats can win the next three, at Towson, Maine and at URI. That would make Richmond at home very, very interesting.
BTW Coach T labeled the game a turn around game for Cats.

I was glad to see the Cats bounce back from the losses to Penn and William and Mary. I know Albany is not a good team but nevertheless the Cats did a good job moving the football and I thought the offensive line play looked a little better and it was good to see Zack Bednarczyk have a good day out there. Hopefully the Cats can turn things around.

this was more an expected W than anything else. not a lot of opportunity to project future success off this one game.

Eric I agree 100% that yesterday was an expected win. However, I saw lots of good things, starting with the offense game plan. The coaches finally realized JR is gone, and Zach has a different skill set. The plan deserves lots of credit for his 100% completion. O Line looked better. And the defense woke up. One big problem I see is all the damm penalties again, 9 for 85 yds. Undisciplined in this area. All season long.

Agree on all of the above......remember to put Albany on your road trip list next time we are there..... Good tailgating. Friendly place .... And a great venue to watch a game .....visitor seating right on top of bench

Lot 8 I know you had a good time.
Will you be in Philly tomorrow night to see our great Nova player and Giants nemesis be inducted into Iggles Hall of Fame?

Was anyone surprised at some of the redshirts that 'Nova burned yesterday? Saw several freshman on the field very late in yesterday's game.

Yes. I was surprised to see both Czasar & Da Silva lose their redshirt status in mop up situations. Forbes is going to be a very good back. He got limited snaps last week.

Redshirted used this season from frosh class:

Used (6):
McClenton RB
Greenidge OT
Forbes RB
Czaszar OL
Da Silva QB
White DT

Not used to date (10):
Pollard RB
Bingelis TE
Chadbourne WR
Sheedy OL
Johnson DE
Reed DE
Malaguti LB
Wiley LB
Williams S
Davis DB

And of course Gerard Smith PK is a walkon frosh.

Now Zach and Dasilva are technically in the same "football" class. That leaves gaps in the future depth chart.
I think it was wise to get DaSilva some game time snaps. What if(God forbid) Zack gets hurt. Can always redshirt Da Silva next season. Remember Javon White redshirted his junior year.
Also, Cats have a verbal from a very good QB at Cranford High. Jack Schetelich. One of the best in the Garden State. Our staff is very high on him.

Greenidge and Csaszar are going to be very, very good O lineman. Although Greenidge struggled yesterday, esp in the first half. Coach Ferrante does a super job with the O line.

Greenidge may not be a blind-side tackle, but considering his youth, he has done a solid job so far this year. I'm sure the coaches will figure it out in the offseason.

Based on our luck (and the physical nature of the QB position in our offense), it doesn't seem likely that we can go an entire year with one QB taking all the snaps. All things considered, a future redshirt year for Dasilva seems optimistic.

By burning the redshirt, it almost necessitates burning future redshirts for a younger QB as well, should a starting QB go down during the season. Unless a walkon (Burkly?) could pinch hit as a back-up for a game or two as a senior?

Cranford is historically a weak program. At least for the past 30 years. Which is not to knock their current QB, just an observation that I'm surprised we have a recruit from that program. Of course De Paul was a relatively weak program for a NJ Parochial before Bednarczyk. And Paramus was even worse before John Robertson. So maybe lightning will strike thrice. And how come our last 3 QBs came from within an hour radius of the Meadowlands, after getting 0 QBs from there forever? Pardon my sarong.

I suspect Andy is more concerned about avoiding a 3-8 season than he is about current redshirts 3-4 years in the future. The kids are having fun out there. I don't know if we can win 7 games with them, but its more interesting than I expected after JR went down and Penn happened. Definitely worth the drive up to Towson next weekend.

He needs to be concerned with both. Managing the roster is the best way to avoid similar situations in the future.
Andy will be sipping Mai Tais on the beach in Clearwater when that future comes to pass.

Reception poor on internet but Fr QB Da Silva looks like a player. Big Dude, staff should try to work him into the offense which is shorthanded. Remember JR was the equivalent of the two best offensive backfield players. Best runner as well as passer. Time to give Frosh as much experience as possible.

Just so we all know, our crack media team lists DaSiva as 6 -5. He is 6-1. BTW very talented.

It was Albany, but it was a start … a turnaround not because is everything is different now but because you could see they turned the page.

Defensive playmaking. Running Back’s showing a combination of speed and physicality. Receivers pushing off would be tacklers. Offense and defense watching and rooting for and building on each other. It was a team in a way it has not been this year except for the last five minutes of the Delaware game.

The OC kept good pace and kept personnel on the field to keep the defense from making changes. Throughout the game, they took what they were given.

McCurry made two plays that saved two ouchdowns early -- a strip and a stop on the one-yard line – that bought some time and some confidence.

ZB played well and within himself. Javon White ran hard. Forbes ran hard. And the OL has to get some credit for that too.

Smith made a nice 39-yard field goal in windy conditions.

And watching in person … the coaches were engaged in every play. RB coach was really in it with his guys. DB coach practically on the field making sure guys had right coverages and distances off the ball. It was clear everyone knew what was at stake.

The only negative, ST still looked like an afterthought, especially the design on punt coverage.

They could end up 7-4 or 5-6 but a little confidence is an amazing thing. Hope to see it again Saturday.

They have won a North NJ Group 3 championship in 2013, runner up in 2014, & currently 6-0 this season. Previous Cranford QB is LB @ Pitt & they have an 2016 OLman verbally committed to Penn State. They have had a nice run. The current QB has JR like HS video.
