News of Wally Ellenson's status with the Marquette basketball program has roiled through Milwaukee and Wisconsin basketball circles for the past 48 hours. Those unfamiliar with the details can catch up at link below:

He will continue to receive an athletic scholarship, but it is a track and field scholarship (he is a high jumper). The implicit rational is that Wojo needs a 13th scholarship to attract a #4 and Wally is a #2/#3 at best, so Wojo yanked the scholly. 2 sport athletes are uncommon but not unheard of, so I assume the problem is not which sport underwrites his education, but rather the conflict over seasons...correct?
