Another NBA question with a VU connection......

As you may know,Andre Drummond from UCONN is the Pistons main BIG....problem is,he only shoots about 20% from FT line ,so they have to take him out of game at critical, close times in games...YET....they are willing to pay him "max contract"....how can one possibly justify that??/..
The VU connection is that Malik Allen was assigned to improve his FT shooting and got him up to a little above 50% in practice but in games,he'd drop back down to bupkus.....Malik obviously frustrated, because he got him to a level that would allow him to stay in games, but he's not a shrink....another reason I dislike NBA,going to get paid obscene money but can't play at "crunch time".....no other sport or profession that I know of would accept this.

DVD: attitude of a champion

The DVD they played of the tourney highlights narrated by Scott Graham gave me goosebumps. It was incredible to have all 6 games there. I know he and a local company produced it. They had it on sale in 2009 of the same title after the tourney/banquet. Does anyone know if this will be for sale on the website? I would like to get a copy of that for sure

Great seeing all those last night. Bob, SeanDon, Beefer, Zman (puerto rico!!!), Eric, and the others whose nicknames escape me. Sean Don- glad you can finally be home! Super cool guys. Nova in 2017 again!!

OT - Rusillo and Kanell - Nova football helmet?

Ok - So maybe this was addressed and I missed it.....

Why is there a Villanova football helmet on the Russillo and Kanell table?

It's up there with TCU - USC - ASU - Texas - Villanova - UCLA

Kinda looks like Sesame Street.....One of these things is not like the other....

I know Kanell went to FSU - I had to look but Rusillo went to UVM - I never watch the show - Did someone lose a bet or something???

Strong and Clear Counseling For Athletes

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...arrested-sex-assault-charge-article-1.2600191

What a shame! I've met Oakman before. He played basketball and football at Pennwood HS. He also assisted his high school coach, Clyde Jones, at Philly Point Guard basketball camps held in several location in the Philly area. Mark Perner, a Philly area sports writer, was a co sponsor of these camps. The former Univ. of DE coach, Monte Ross, also was involved in these camps. Oakman had some issues at PSU but seemed to have gotten past those. He had a stellar football career at Baylor, breaking their all time sack record. Now, just before the NFL Draft, he gets charged with sexual assault. Somebody has to counsel these kids about keeping their nose clean.

Oakman allegedly walked home with a women he met at a bar that evening. She left the bar with him consensually. She went into his apartment with him consensually. She went into his bedroom with him consensually BUT, according to her, she did not engage in sex with him consensually. In times past, if a woman had consensually gone into a guys bedroom when both of them had been drinking and they otherwise didn't know each other, the likelihood of her prevailing in a sexual assault charge would be low.

Things have changed! Moreover, a guy in Oakman's position can't even afford to have the allegation made against him, especially in the week leading up to the Draft since even if charges are dropped AFTER THE DRAFT or he is found not guilty AFTER THE DRAFT, his career may be over. In the least, it will have been set back very significantly. Someone needs to be very clearly and regularly counseling these guys about what is not only illegal but also about what is imprudent! I am not here to judge whether or not this woman was sexually assaulted or not. I am commenting solely on the stupidity of players getting themselves into positions where they may get charged with sexual assault, rightly or wrongly.

Size Question

So, next season we have six players at the so-called 4 and 5 positions -- Reynolds, Jenkins, Spellman, Delaney, Painter and presumably Paschall at 6'7". The following season we lose Reynolds but gain Cosby-Roundtree. Given that we've essentially gone with two players at these positions, how do you foresee handling playing time?

OT: Saint Louis University

Was in St. Louis for a wedding this weekend and had an opportunity to drive around Saint Louis University's campus (our hotel was near there).

I have to say - I was very impressed. The campus is very big and the facilities are modern, renovated and fresh. The on-campus stadium (Chaifetz Arena) is very new - completed in 2008 -- and looks huge from the outside. From one of the groomsmen in the wedding (a grad), the building holds more than 10k for basketball with the potential for more. Around 13,000 total students there, with nearly 9,000 undergrads and the rest grad students and law students.

Academically, the school is a national, second tier university now in US News/World Report, and with the potential for further upward movement.

St. Louis as a city gets a bad rap (much of it justified based on some neighborhoods), but SLU's campus is in a fairly nice area of the city with a ton of open space, and is in close proximity to downtown and the Busch Stadium area. Also right next door to Pappy's BBQ - if you ever go to St Louis, make sure you stop there...unbelievable pulled pork and ribs that they smoke right on the street.

I've been skeptical of Saint Louis University as a Big East member for some time, and I'm not suggesting the Big East should, or would, expand in the near future. But if it does, I came away thinking that SLU would be a terrific addition. Good academic profile, and ready-made infrastructure in both the brand new basketball facilities and a large and excited student population. It isn't surprising that SLU is at the top of many BE fan wish-lists, and it should be.
