2016 VU Student Tourney Trip Challenge

Villanova Alums want to help a current Villanova student make the trip to NCAA Tournament. It will cost you only your time to create an account on VUSports.com and submit a qualifying entry. Below are some details about the contest. This year I placed an online ad in The Villanovan to help increase applicants (http://www.villanovan.com/for-sale/...dent-Challenge---1st-Round-of-NCAA-Tournament). I know Eric has also send out a tweet a week or so ago from the VUSports.com account to promote the contest. Please feel free to share with any current Villanova students.

RULES OF THE ROAD:

Requirement of all eligible applicants:
Must be a current Villanova undergrad student. Villanova Graduate school or law school students are not eligible for this contest.

Responsibility of winner:
1) Winner will post a road trip summary to the VU Sports message board by COB on Monday 3/21 to share with all members of the board.

2) Summary should include details about your game experience and people you met along the way. We want members of the VU sports community to hear about your weekend adventure. The last 2 winners have established a new standard for the road trip summary. Both contained a level of detail and provided great photos that allow the members of the VU sports board who can not travel to the game what it was like.

The 2014 winner (Meg Collins) set the bar high with a wonderful daily blog post with photos. http://megc921.blogspot.com/2014/03/vu-student-challenge-recap.html

The 2015 winner (Nick Berger) continued this tradition and posted this road trip summary:

Request of all applicants for the 2016 contest:
1) In 200 words or less explain why you are deserving of this year's award. This is your shot to tell your Villanova story. Please make it count.

2) Submissions are to be posted to the VU Sports Topic "Submission for 2016 Sponsor a Student Contest" in the Villanova Basketball (Bench Warmers) Forum no later than midnight on Monday, March 14th. Only submissions posted on VUSports.com in the Villanova Basketball (Bench Warmers) Forum will be considered for the prize.

Final selection will be posted no later than 9AM on Wednesday 3/16 to both the Villanova Basketball (Bench Warmers) Forum & NovaNation Forum.

Reward for the selected contest winner:
- Accommodations for the first weekend of the NCAA tournament for all Villanova games (Hotel booked for Brooklyn near Barclays; will change if our 1st weekend NCAA site changes)
- Admittance for 4 persons to all VUAA sponsored pre-game events during the NCAA weekend
- Cash reward of $600 to help with expenses (will increase amount if others want to contribute to the cash reward)
$200 GJQ
$300 EW
$100 SC
- One Villanova replica jersey from NIKE (White size XL); if winner wants it signed by Jay, I will make those arrangements but delivery on signed jersey would be post NCAA tourney run.

OT: Looking to connect senior VU ChemE's with VU alums who can help

I was recently contacted by two graduating Villanova Senior ChemE's that are looking for opportunities after graduation. If your company is looking for talented graduates who have fantastic interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively to deliver results, please contact me via email and I will forward their respective resumes to you.

You can reach me on email via gerald.j.quinn@gmail.com

Thanks for your consideration. It's all about Villanovans helping Villanovans!!!!

PS...this is not for my senior ChemE.....she just got an offer from JP Morgan last week....and I could not be happier for her; need to help out these other ChemE's.....they are both great students and represent the best that Villanova has to offer.

Season End Predictions

The season will be over in less than one month. To date this season has been great fun as we have exceeded most predictions and the team has made us proud. I wanted to offer some season ending predictions based upon a computer algorithm I have developed from reading this board for many years (percentages do not add up to 100% due to overlapping outcomes):
- There is a 95% probability that we will lose one more game this season and a 98% chance we lose two
- 18% of board members will blame the loss on lack of size
- 12% will attribute the loss to lack of speed at the point guard
- 9% will say we would have won it all if we had gotten into the ACC
- There is a 90% probability of a pissing match between two long term board members following the loss and they will apologize to each other in less than 24 hours.
- After losing our last game 30% will deem the season a success regardless of the results
- Within a month of the last loss 60% will adopt a "wait until next year" view and point to Spellman, Paschall and others joining the squad.
- After the loss 15% of the board members will swear off the board for one month.
- Two thirds of the above will return to the board in less than one week.
- 7% of the board will be convinced "CBS hates us" now that ESPN is no longer the primary venue for college basketball
- There is a 99% probability someone will write a 2,000+ word post on how Ryan Arcidiacono has not only altered the state of Villanova basketball but their life
- 2% probability that Mojo provides a detailed diagnosis on Booth's knee
- 10% of the board members will re-evaluate their alcohol consumption during the month of March
- 100% of those who travel to the games to support the team will be glad they did
- 32 days is the over/under before we have lengthy discussions on TVs, financial advice, surgical procedures, and trip destinations

Discuss.

Donte - ??

Did i miss it? I haven't heard anything about medically red shirting him.

I am guessing it is a done deal now?

I know some people thought doing that would over load the frosh class with (4) - but it would be with 3 forwards and we don't currently have any guards coming in. And with Hart, Jenkins and Reynolds graduating - I don't see it as a big deal at all.

I would love to see Donte with us for a full 4 years of playing time -

atlantic sun championship game

Has a 12-21 Stetson team (4-10 in the league) winning by 5 with 10 mins to go. Wow. If they pull this off this could be Kansas, UVA, Nova whoever's 1st game in the tourney. How nice would that be? To draw a team that won 4 conf games all year. The place will erupt if they pull this off. Plus Austin Peay won their league at 18-17. They were the 6 or 7 seed too. This is why it is nice to be a 1 seed. 2 seeds won't get this game. 15 seeds will have a decent record

G town thoughts

Tremendous job by this staff and the team overall to be ready to go and come out as sharp as we did. I particularly liked the defensive intensity and rebounding and the juniors really led the way offensively. Game was never in doubt. Some other thoughts
- 3rd season finale in a row with a blowout win at wells. This one seemed the most muted as far as enthusiasm. I think they all know what is at stake and what needs to get done.
- man g town has pro talent but they just don't mesh well at all. They always recruit well but jt3 deserves a lot of criticism for this year. But peak is an absolute NBA guy for sure.
-nice to hear his mention paschal. 40 inch vertical. Excited to see that kind of athleticSm
- has bridges hit a wall? Thought Booth did well today though
- I think of all the guys, DO would be the most pleasant to chat and have a beer with. But wish he was more intense and focused on the game. He looks way too relaxed and like an old man out there. Can't stress enough how much we need more ; his a game.
- that being said thx to the seniors. Pretty special 4 years we've watched
