Jenkins Leadership

Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention earlier in the season, but it seems like Kris has really stepped up his leadership role on this club. Love his intensity after tough plays he or his teammates makes and seeing that emotion. Seems to really like firing up the other guys. Arch is one of a kind, DO has been a warrior, and if we lose Josh next year that will be even tougher, but I feel good knowing that we'll have at least one strong leader next year in Jenkins. Not discounting what DR, Booth, Brunson, etc. can hopefully also bring in that regard as we'll need everyone to step up to fill the void.

boheim on roberson

if I had anyone else he wouldn't play a minute. That's right Jimmy B keep it classy.

Jimmy B is a scum bag. I watched UCONN and Cuse yesterday. Both teams look like they are going through the motions. Think both programs go in the gutter soon, both have awful leadership. Ollie constantly sulks on the bench like a child. I do miss their fans passed out by 2 pm at the Garden though, always good for a laugh.

Projecting Tourney Seeds and Sites 2/21 Edition

Time to star thinking about competition for the #1 Overall Seed, the imaginary S Curve and where teams could be placed:

1) Villanova - Brooklyn
2) Kansas - St. Louis
3) Oklahoma - Oklahoma City
4) Virginia - Raleigh
5) Xavier - St. Louis
6) Maryland - Brooklyn
7) North Carolina - Raleigh
8) Oregon - Spokane
9) Iowa - Des Moines
10) Michigan St. - Des Moines
11) Miami - Providence
12) West Virginia - Providence
13) Iowa St. - Oklahoma City
14) Kentucky - Denver
15) Duke - Denver
16) Dayton - Spokane

EAST REGION: Philadelphia
1) Villanova
2) North Carolina
3) Michigan St.
4) Dayton

MIDWEST REGION: Chicago
1) Kansas
2) Maryland
3) Miami
4) Kentucky

WEST REGION: Anaheim
1) Oklahoma
2) Oregon
3) Iowa
4) Kentucky

SOUTH REGION: Louisville
1) Virginia
2) Xavier
3) West Virginia
4) Iowa St.

Kansas has very good numbers. They may have a better profile than Villanova right now, but we are #1 in the polls and have good numbers ourselves. Oregon is a team that looks better on paper than anyone is giving them credit for. They have the blind profile of a #1 or #2 seed right now. Virginia is another team with fantastic numbers that looks like a #1 seed right now. Duke and Kentucky, despite their issues this season, have very good computer numbers compared to Baylor, Indiana, Texas, etc. What helps is that SMU and Louisville, two teams that would be in line for protected seeds, are ineligible for postseason play. Dayton, despite their loss this week, is a Top 15 team in the country and has scheduled well. Two teams who could push the conversation would be Purdue and Texas A&M. Both have decent computer numbers. Texas A&M, playing in a weak SEC, probably has the best route to stealing a top 4 seed.

I could see a very easy travel schedule for Villanova, but if you want to avoid a stacked East, root for UNC and Michigan St.

Holtmann comments about Nova doubters

For those who write off Villanova because of its early NCAA Tournament losses as a No. 1 or No. 2 seed to No. 10 St. Mary’s in 2010, UConn in 2014 and North Carolina State last year, Holtmann had an interesting message.

“They’re an elite team and anyone who would challenge that hasn’t watched them play the entire year,” he said. “They’re an elite team. I don’t care what anybody says about what’s happened in the past in the tournament. They’re an elite team.

“I get it. I get the whole deal with March. But let’s not discount what they’ve been able to accomplish.

“Jay has developed an incredible culture here. It’s a credit to him. He recruits good kids, hard-playing guys, they’re very talented.

“I think they get at times dismissed, but they’re a very talented group and there aren’t nights when they don’t come out and compete. He’s established the culture he wants here.”

2 #1 Seeds or max bids?

Which would you rather see on selection sunday for the Big East (leaving specific teams out of it, just focus on the conference).

2 #1 Seeds and 3 total bids

or

5 bids and possibly 1 #1 seed

I think 2 #1 seeds puts a lot of pressure on the conference, but it also does more to elevate its status than total bids. IDK how you can get two #1 seeds and not be considered a major conference. The A-10 and AAC will never accomplish that.

TWO INTERSTING STATS

ONE,,,,,,,VILLANOVA HAS HAD EIGHT DIFFERENT PLAYERS THIS YEAR AS LEADING SCORERS IN A GAME.......THAT IS UNBELIEVABLY HARD TO DO.......YOU CAN GET SEVEN.....BUT...EIGHT IS VERY VERY DIFFICULT........"........TWO.....THERE ARE OVER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY NCAA UNRANKED......TEAMS THIS YEAR........WHO WENT ON TO BEAT A RANKED TEAM....THAT IS AMAZING ...AT LEAST TO ME....
