RIP Mike Daly - Class of '72

Some sad news to share this morning, Mike Daly (class of '72) passed away suddenly on Monday. For the younger generation, Mike was a former player and was on the 1971 team that played UCLA in the NCAA Finals (w/ Porter, Smith, Siemiontkowski, Ford, Ingelsby, etc).

I'm only 38 so I wasn't around to see those games so most of my knowledge is only from what I've read over the years. I know there are posters on the board that were and could probably tell some great stories about those teams and maybe share some of the experiences watching them play.

I got to know Mr. Daly a bit over the last fifteen years as his daughter was my wife's roommate at Villanova (class of '01). What I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed my times speaking with him, he was a very kind and warm man and the Daly's are a wonderful family that bleed Villanova blue.

I know he was still close to the program so I'm sure there are people here that know him much better than I did but I wanted to share the service information (below) since they'll take place this week. RIP Mr. Daly.

Nova/Xavier on PTI

Kornheiser quote...

"Nobody believes this is the #1 team in the country and nobody believes this is 5the best team in the country."

That's all really. This is getting old. The media makes zero attempt at appreciating THIS TEAM and THESE PLAYERS. Due to what previous teams have done in March they don't bother.

Would be 1 thing if they stated a case to support a claim such as the above but they don't bother.

Sick of it. I hope we rip through Xavier tonight and rip through the tournament next month in an angry yet business-like manner.

Trevon Duval

Anybody catch the tweet from Adam Zagoria this morning:

"Kansas, Maryland, VIllanova among those working hard for Trevon Duval; Duke, UK, Syracuse not so much"

I thought people had written us out of that recruitment? I know the last time his name came up people had mixed feelings but I'd love to see him on the main line.

GET ON THE BALL! Vote for Nova's Ryan Arcidiacono - Senior CLASS Award

Hey guys, we helped Brian Karalunas win this award just a few years ago. Now its time to support Ryan Arcidiacono. Ryan is in 2nd place only to someone in the VU record books for something, I'm sure (to lazy to look it up). He's an excellent athlete, student and individual who is the heart and soul of Nova's entire team. You can view Ryan's profile and vote for him daily via the attached link.

Ryan is down about 25% over the 1st place candidate, Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon. That is an increase of 25% over yesterday since I have never looked at this before. The contest doesn't end until March 21st. Virginia is a Big Private U with a large basketball fan base so its important that we expand and sustain the voting for Ryan. There is no time to relax until the voting ends on March 21st.

Get your friends, family and co-workers to vote for Ryan. You, as well as your family, friends and co-workers, can vote 1x per day from each computer that you/they have access to. In other words, any person can vote multiple times per day if they have access to multiple computers. There is no time to relax. Each day remember to Vote Early and Vote Often! BE SURE TO SPAM THE LAX BOARD WITH IT AS WELL!!!!

Wish some of our guys put a better face on it...

Amid all the talk of ultimately only March matters, Chef quote at the end of DPO article linked below, speaking of the locker room in Pittsburgh last year. Here's hoping that the new blood this year and ascending leaders help some of these guys reframe their mindset.

"I felt like it was our time, with the seniors we had, the leaders,'' Ochefu said. "That locker room, that was the worst. That could be me this year. I'm not thinking about it now, but I know as soon as the tournament comes, I will be. I'll be thinking about it a lot.''

Wed eve is not that important. ...

Because our guys don't get all 'tensed up or rattled' for a 'big regular season game' that is simply NOT like an ncaa game that has 'season-ending' implications....Wed impacts seeding....nothing more....

It's a theory that I throw out there to you...

It's my biggest concern for march...

Are these boys ready for big time pressure and will they deliver the goods.....

I honestly believe the following will help get the team deep :

Bridges athleticism
Jenkins emergence on offense
Reynolds growth
Ochefu health
Brunson frosh growth.confidence

Seat belt fastened... here we go!!!!

Philly Catholic League Title

Roman Catholic gets revenge over Neumann Goretti for the Philly Catholic League Championship. 72 - 65
Roman out to a 10-0 start and lead throughout the game.

Back to back titles for Roman.

Neumann didn't shoot well at all especially early on. Missed atleast their first 10 threes. Only made 2 or 3 on the game.

Quade Greem was not his usual self but put forth 15 pts.

Dhamir Roundtree with 14 points, 17 Rebounds, 7 blocks!!!

The Penn State trio all played well.
Stevens 22 and 11.
Carr 21, 7, and 5
Bostic 12 and 7

Jay Wright on hand.
