Eric please explain

Eric- I had 2 posts removed this evening. I grew up with the old NovavoN and know he was removed from the board. I have been a member at different times with other handles and chose this when I subscribed again and noticed it was available. You can check my profile.

One of the posts I responded I would be attending the Butler lunch with a guest (removed). Please explain the issue. Thanks

An Announcement Regarding the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends:

It is with mixed emotions that I announce John Y. Gotanda, The Arthur J. Kania Dean of the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, will be leaving Villanova in June to become President of Hawai'i Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. It has been my great privilege to work with John, and while we will miss his extraordinary leadership and energy, Hawai'i Pacific University is incredibly fortunate to have such a talented academic and true visionary as its next president.

As many of you know, John is a long-standing member of the Villanova community, and since joining the University in 1994 has held many important roles--as a professor, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Research and Director of the JD/MBA Program, before being named as Dean in 2011.

John's achievements are numerous. His vision to create a law school that is both forward-thinking and innovative--while remaining true to its history and traditions--is one of his greatest accomplishments at Villanova. John stepped into the Dean's role during a difficult time for law schools across the country, and he was certainly up to the challenge.

Under John's leadership, the Law School has flourished academically, responding directly to recent widespread changes in the legal industry. Today, the School's core curriculum is based on the "Where Law Meets Business" philosophy that John championed, pairing professional development skills with real-world learning to prepare its graduates for success. During his tenure, the Law School has created four Centers of Excellence, where law students can pursue innovative, interdisciplinary legal study that, in turn, helps them to thrive in the workplace, serve others in their communities and practice law according to the highest ethical standards.

John also advocated tirelessly to ensure the future success of the Law School and to engage key constituencies in turning his vision into reality. The Villanova Law Campaign to Ignite Change--the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the School's history--was launched this past fall and has already exceeded its $50 million goal due, in part, to the recent landmark $25 million gift from Charles "Chuck" Widger '73. This was the largest gift in the Law School's history, the second largest in the University's history, and resulted in the first named school at Villanova.

Although I am saddened by John's departure, I am extremely grateful for his many contributions. His dedication has helped our Law School and Villanova University reach new heights. It is truly an honor that one of our own has been selected for such a prestigious position. I know that this is a homecoming for John as he returns to his native Hawaii.

Please join me in thanking John for all that he has done for Villanova and in wishing him well as he begins this exciting next chapter.

Sincerely,

Nice nugget from ESPNU Podcast

Katz and Greenburg were interviewing the Virginia coach, and he let out that they expect to play Villanova in the return game later in the season during their ACC bye week. I like that, and noticed more teams scheduling some non-conference games during the middle of their season this year (like us and Temple). Good test with both teams a little more polished verses early season match-ups.

About Old Man Jenkins!

I thought he was tremendous tonight.
He is very quietly becoming a man playing among boys.
Sometime he looks goofy, sometime he looks slow, sometime he looks awkward but he's always effective.
That guy on TV who said he has an old man game was absolutely correct.
He plays smart like an old man. I think it might have been Jay Bilas who said it.
His nickname should be Pops.
I hope some of you, who were ready to bury him, have changed your mind about his game.
Jenkins is a PLAYER!

BE Tracker and 3 Games tonight

Feb 3, 2016

8:00 PM CREIGHTON at Villanova Villanova, Pa. (CBS Sports Network) 87% chance of 'Nova win per kenpom

8:30 PM MARQUETTE at Seton Hall Newark, N.J. (Fox Sports 1) 85% SHU

6:30 PM ST JOHNS at Xavier Cincinnati, OH (Fox Sports 1) 98% Xavier

With Ochefu out, the Creighton game can get a little interesting for 'Nova. Gang rebounding and a good shooting effort will be needed to grab anything close to the 12 point margin projected by kenpom. The Brunson, Booth, Arcidiacono group needs to begin to pick up the pace.

Surging Marquette could conceivably get to .500 in league play and a three-way tie for fifth place with a big road win at Seton Hall tonight. Both teams are young and improving. Marq will look to avenge a 20 point, home drubbing to SHU in the league opener for both teams back in December.

St. John's will look to avoid another embarrassment. Losing by anything less than 15 would be an accomplishment for the Red Storm playing at X.

Nova-Creigh Presser Quotes

Head Coach Jay Wright Opening Statement

Good game for us tonight, very good Creighton team. I think they were a little shorthanded, I do not think Groselle was 100%. He is a force inside, so it made them a perimeter oriented team. So we were able to do a good job after some time. I think they had seven threes in the first half and only one is the second, so I think we got better defensively as the game went on.

I think with Groselle out Darryl (Reynolds) took advantage of that on the glass, and was a great force in the middle. Kris just continues to play well in all areas. He has been rebounding, good defense, and also good offensively tonight.

What about your three point shooting, they were all going in tonight

Wright: It is nice to be home in the Pavilion. I also think we have been out of synch a little bit, usually if you are a good shooting team it’s not just being off, it is that you aren’t getting into a rhythm. We moved the ball well, made the right shots, and made the extra pass tonight. Last four or five games we haven’t been doing that well but tonight we did.

With Watson hitting those threes early, were you happy about how the defense slowed them down

Wright: We were not that bad offensively in the beginning, they hit some tough shots. Watson banked one in, he hit a couple tough ones, and we knew they were capable of that. But I am happy with the way we just stayed consistent. Towards the ends of the first half we just kept defending kept defending, rushed the shots a little bit. At the start of the second half containing Watson and not over helping on him I thought we did a good job.

Darryl take us through your game today, it seems that you are getting more confident

Darryl Reynolds: Yes the confidence is growing, being out there and getting to see different situations on the floor helps me develop with my decision making. Also my trust grows with my teammates, which makes it much easier to be out there.

Coach talk about Darryl’s defensive effect on Watson tonight

Wright: He did a lot of good things tonight but there were a number of situations where he got switched onto Watson and did a great job. He kept him in front of him and then we didn’t’ to help. I thought there was a huge play early in the second half where Watson got stuck under the basket, shot it, and we got the ball back. That is impressive when your five man can switch onto a point guard who is that quick and keep him in front of him. He has that ability, and we knew that, we aren’t surprised. Just like Darryl said you just have to get in there and see it live and he did a great job.

Kris what did it feel like when those shots were falling

Kris Jenkins: I have to give credit to my teammates; they did a great job of making plays and making the right play. Today the right play just happened to be for me to shot the ball and they helped me, so all of the credit goes to them.
