Transfer Issue

Jacksonville St crushed Sam Houston on Saturday. SHSU, as most know, is loaded with transfers. Apparently, JSU also has their share, During the telecast announcer mentioned JSU had 5 transfers from SEC teams, 3 on the O line. Didn't mention how many more from outside SEC. The number of schools bringing in large #'s of transfers seems to be growing. If it continues, I believe it will be increasing difficult for teams that don't follow that trend, like us, to go deep into the playoffs. These transfer heavy teams are bringing in some really good talent. A good coach who can blend them in, has a significant advantage. Keeler can bring them in but he has trouble coaching them up. His eeking out a win over us last year with a missing John Robertson is a case in point, as was his losing to us twice with teams loaded with transfers and a future All Pro QB at the helm. Saturdays beat down by JSU another example. Championship game should be a dandy. Both teams really looked outstanding in their semi-final wins. Hope I'm wrong about the transfer issue, otherwise it sure will make it very difficult for us to get deep into the playoffs and win another Championship.

Congrats to Nova grad Drew Gordon who coached his LaSalle High team to a win over then #1 Archbishop Wood 35-31
Gordon btw is one of 3 family members to play QB for Nova. His dad, Andy and son Brett all Nova QBs.
Wood at 5-0 was the Inquirer's # 1 going in. Nova recruit Wood's Jarett Mc Clenton gained 228 yds rushing. Three TDs 51 yd run 31 yds and 8 yds. LaSalle wide receiver Jimmy Herron had 4td catches. He recovered a Mc Clenton fumble after a 20yd gain. Big turnover. Herron is headed to Duke.

Rotation during the Delaware game......

Did anyone else take note of the different players on the floor during the game......in the 1st half Jay had both Ochefu and Reynolds sitting....seemed like 4-5 mins. Also during the game he had both bigs on the floor at the same time.....is this just Jay seeing how this worked out against a weaker team. The most athletic five he had on the floor was Arch, Jalen, Josh, Booth, & Bridges. No height, but the best players. And, I should also point out, that the unusual rotation was not during garbage time, but, was during the normal flow of the game.

Fogo de Chao

What's everyone's thoughts on this place? Just went there for lunch, feel like I'm going to die. It's only the second time I've ever gone and I didn't learn my lesson the first time. Can't imagine a situation where I do any work from now until 3PM -- which is when I'm hoping everyone just decides to leave at once.

Opening Statement Head Coach Jay Wright

A lot of good things tonight and obviously some things we need to work on. The Delaware team just went at BC and lost by eight and played pretty well. They are a better team than probably it looked, Holden and Hayes are two great guards.

I thought that we rebounded a little bit better, but we do need to get better at that. We had a little bit of zone going since we were getting beat off the dribble a little better with that. Great job by Josh on the glass, we said that is what we needed to get better at and he did a great job. Jalen got us going with those threes early and did a great job.

Jay, the outside shooting at the beginning of the season didn’t make a lot of sense, how has it come together.

We have a certain philosophy that we play with; we want to teach guys to become aggressive when they come here. Kris and Josh were starting for the first time, Jalen playing for the first time, Mikal and Phil; a lot of those guys we really being counted on for the first time and we were over aggressive with that. We were taking bad shots but not out of being selfish and I think that gradually our shot selection is getting better and I think it will as the season goes on, and our shooting percentage will increase as we start getting a better shot selection.

Josh tonight and the last couple games does it feel that way that the rhythm is developing

It is different because we are going inside out, and I think that it is something we are starting to do a lot better. We are passing out shots that we could get for more open shots. It was good shooters taking bad shots at the beginning of the year. We watched film and coach talked to us about it, we work on shot fakes and shooting in practice every day. Our thing is to get in the lane, find an open guy, if he isn’t open keep reversing it and get an open shot.

Jalen is that your game anyway get in the lane and find somebody

Yes and also my game is being aggressive and trying to find my teammates. Just trying to make the right play at the right time like coach teaches.

Jalen, did you feel in that moment when you hit those three threes that someone needs to step up and make some shots

Yes but I also think that we needed to play better defensively, we feed off of our offense from our defense. Once we started playing hard defensively we got better shots and better looks.

Josh how much does it get your attention when a team comes out and hit four threes like Delaware did

It does get your attention, but it was something that needs to keep driving us to start the game better. I think we rebounded and responded well from that but it is something that we need to keep working on.

Jay in ESPN Christmas commercial

ESPN is running a "12 Days of Christmas" song, with a mix of college analysts, college players, and college coaches singing a version of 12 Days of Christmas. Of course Jay found a way to get in the commercial.

This is another reason why Jay is awesome. Free exposure for Villanova with Jay as the face.

Of course, I'm sure Jay doesn't mind being in another commercial, but I still love seeing Jay do that.
