Federer

Just woke up this morning and see he lost to ALBERT RAMOS in the Shanghai Masters. Was so shocked to see the score I had to check another outlet to confirm it was even real. Odds for this were so large they were almost off the board. Didn't see match but imagine he played really awful tennis. Cue the "old overnight?" articles that will be popping up on the interwebs.

Geno Auriemma Comments on Jay

A few weeks ago Geno Auriemma was on Zach Lowe's ESPN podcast and he was being asked about why he thinks the women's game is superior to the men's game. I'm paraphrasing, but Geno basically trashed the men's game, said it lacks ball movement, team-oriented offense, coaching is poor, etc. Then out of nowhere he said something like "Jay Wright at Villanova is about the only men's coach I know of that teaches these principles but other than him..."

Thought that was an interesting comment. 1 Philly guy praising another I guess.

OT: College Admissions Question

Some of you are very savvy on current college admissions standards so I thought I would ask this question here. My friend's daughter has narrowed her college choices to three schools: UNC, Wake Forest & Tufts. My buddy is quite nervous because UNC is her first choice (apparently, far and away her preference) and he claims it is the most selective of the three because she is domiciled in NJ (I guess UNC is obligated to take a high percentage of in-state students). Is it true that UNC is more selective than Tufts for an out-of-state applicant? I thought he was incorrect on that but maybe I'm the one that's wrong. If UNC is more selective than Tufts, the world as I know it has really changed. She is a very strong student, btw.

Kansas City

Anyone live there? Anyone visit or work there? Going next week. Looks like my hotel options are the Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza and the Intercontinental at the Plaza.

My understanding is that KC is a pretty fun town. I will only be there for one night and would like to be "downtown" to watch baseball if the Royals are still in it. Looking for any advice on KC.

Thanks.

John Robertson

I guess I never realized how much one player can mean to a team. The Cats almost beat a 1A team (although not a good one), and beat two solid FCS teams, and then play two horrible games in a row. I expected the offense to take a step back, but the defense, which was supposed to be a strength, looks bad. What has happened??
