Nembhard could add another dimension to Nova's pursuit of a PG for 2018. They had offered Nembhard as part of their plans for 2019.

According to the article below, Nova hasn't been particularly involved with Nembhard recently, but with the reclassification, that could change. It will be interesting to see if Nova ups its pursuit of Nembhard or if they elect to focus on bringing in Quinerly/Weaver/Duke/Carey.

Initial 2017-18 BPI Index Released, Cats Ranked Third

Nova came in at third in the initial BPI rankings for the 2017-18 season. In addition, four Big East teams cracked the top 22 including Seton Hall (15), Xavier (19), and Providence (22).

More specifically, the Cats came in at third offensively and sixth defensively. They were one of only three teams ranked in the top 10 in both categories.

Arch To Stay In the U.S. After All

It appears that Ryan Arcidiacono will be staying in the United States for the upcoming season. After signing a deal to play overseas in Italy, it now looks like Arch has used his time in the summer league to play his way into a two-way contract with the Bulls.

This appears to be an ideal situation for Arch, as he will now have the opportunity to continue to work on his game in the G League with the potential to get some time with a Bulls team that finds itself in a state of flux. Regardless of how he ends up splitting his time, Arch will be able to play in front of a lot more eyes with direct connections to the NBA.

Nova Makes Move, Offers 2018 PG Jalen Carey

Nova has made its first move of the July evaluation period, offering 2018 PG Jalen Carey out of Immaculate Conception in New Jersey. Carey is a four-star player who is currently ranked 50th in his class by Rivals. 247 Sports's Andrew Slater broke the news on twitter.

Carey excels at getting to the rim and possesses a nice stroke from the outside. He also has good size and length. Among his other notable offers are Arizona, Syracuse, Kansas, and Indiana.

It remains to be seen whether the offer is in reaction to the activity of other Nova targets or simply because the staff wanted to extend their look at him before offering (they have been following him for a while), but regardless it's easy to see how he could fit in in the program.

Here's some video of Carey in action.

Quinerly, Weaver Begin To Set Visits, Nova Waits

Arguably the two biggest fish remaining in Villanova's recruiting waters have begun to plan official visits.

Julius Kim of Elevate hoops reported Weaver's planned visits to Ohio State and Florida via his twitter...

Meanwhile, some semantics have led to a bit of a debate as to weather Quinerly's visits to Kansas and UCLA are certain with Adam Zagoria implying they are confirmed while Jeff Borzello of ESPN phrased it as "likely."

Regardless, the news represents steps forward in each players' recruitment as Nova waits for their own potential visits from Quinerly and Weaver. Despite the forward movement, it appears we are still a ways away from a commitment from either player.

Weekend Update: Summer League, Weaver Shines

Let's get caught up with the Nova tidbits form over the weekend.

Starting with the UAA Finals, Nova target Elijah Weaver had a stellar game on Friday after scuffling a bit through his team's first few games. Weaver led his team in scoring with 24 points on 9-17 shooting, 1-4 from three, and 5-6 from the line. He added two rebounds and two assists in leading Team Breakdown to a 72-59 victory. It was Weaver's best performance of the tournament.

Meanwhile in NBA Summer League action, Arch carried the torch for Nova players on Friday with a standout game. He scored 16 points on 6-9 shooting and 3-4 from three, adding in eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

It was a quiet night for the trio of former Wildcats playing for the Wizards. Daniel Ochefu had just two points, five rebounds, and one assist in 15 minutes of action. Kris Jenkins managed one assist and one rebound in nine minutes. And Maalik Wayns notched an assist in just three minutes of play.

James Bell struggled for the Clippers, scoring three points on 1-7 shooting and 0-4 from three. He added four rebounds and two steals. It was also announced that Bell will be joining a Turkish team for the upcoming season after playing in Israel last season.

Josh Hart continues to rest a turned ankle and did not play for the Lakers.

Selection Committee To Place Greater Emphasis On Road Games

The NCAA Selection Committee has tweaked it's process for reviewing teams for NCAA Tournament selection and seeding to place a greater emphasis on road games. They are also exploring ways to incorporate new metrics like KenPom, Sagarin, KPI, and BPI. While the committee has access to those metrics, it is looking at ways to incorporate them mathematically to supplement the current RPI rankings.

Quinerly's Day At UAA Finals

Much like Elijah Weaver earlier this afternoon, Jahvon Quinerly had a bit of a mixed day in Sports U's sloppy performance against Team Charlotte. Quinerly scored 13 points on 4-11 shooting, 0-4 from three, and 5-9 from the line. He did have two made threes wiped out by foul calls. He added four assists and three rebounds.

Shooting was the biggest issue for Quinerly on Thursday, although if those two threes had counted his day suddenly looks a whole lot better. While the two made threes didn't count, they showed that the range is there.

On the positive side, he again displayed the ability to get to the rim at will and to draw fouls. He also showcased his excellent vision once again. During one sequence Quinerly delivered a perfect high-low pass to Naz Reid, demonstrating excellent touch, before causing a turnover on the defensive end and starting the break with a nifty pass to a teammate on the outlet.

While the stat line doesn't jump out at you, Quinerly, along with teammate Naz Reid and Team Charlotte's Devon Dotson, clearly showed themselves to be on another level.
