Nova Offers Ohio State De-Commit Dane Goodwin

2018 guard Dane Goodwin has de-committed from Ohio State and has received an offer from Villanova, via Zach Fleer. Fleer also reports that Goodwin has been to Villanova for a visit. Notre Dame has also offered, and Ohio State remains in the running.

Goodwin is a 6-4 guard who is currently ranked 123 in his class.

Cats Contact 2019 Guard Anthony Harris

Also via the Washington Post and Team Takeover coach Doug Martin, Villanova was in contact with 2019 guard Anthony Harris. The 6-2 point guard is currently ranked 71 in the class of 2019, and attends Paul VI, the same high school of Nova commit Brandon Slater.

He holds offers from Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech, among others, and Xavier has recently reached out as well.

Swider On Duke Getting Involved, Comments On Nova

Rapidly rising 2018 forward Cole Swider, who had already released a final list before Duke jumped in, talks the Blue Devils' involvement and a recent check in with Jay Wright and the Cats. I think Swider would fit in beautifully at Nova, and it will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out.

Durham averaged 1.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.3 minutes for UConn last season coming off an ACL injury. At 6-11, he has intriguing size and was ranked 47th in the class of 2016. He averaged 22.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.7 blocks as a junior in high school before missing his senior season with a torn ACL in his other knee.

The two separate ACL injuries are a concern. The quiet numbers at UConn are concerning as well, but he was behind two seniors in 7-0 Amida Brimah and 6-10 Kentan Facey, and was likely battling to get back into basketball shape and regaining his timing and edge. That being said, a player with that size who put up those numbers in high school and who was ranked top 50 in his class will definitely get your attention.

Not sure how much of a player Nova really is here, but it's something to keep an eye on. With uncertainty around how long Omari Spellman will be around or how the 2018 class will shake out, it could be an area Jay Wright would like to address.
