Achtung is a great album, my favorite of theirs. It also came out when grunge was taking over/had taken over.

Pearl Jam would be it for me. Saw my first PJ show in 1994 and have seen them close to 50 times over the last 20 years. Great live band.Originally posted by qwe015:
Not necessarily my favorite, but tough to dispute pearl Jam as the best for those in their 30's
Pretty tough to argue that the best band from the northeast in the past two decades are the Phishes.

Singles was released in 1992, so most likely made in 1991 - and yet it basically nailed the entire Seattle scene musically that had not even happened yet. Yes, Cameron Crowe is a rock critic by trade, but he basically drafts a HoF roster before they really are seen by anyone outside the locals.
Not a breathe right strip. When doing his microphone stand baton twirls, he smacked himself in the face and needed 14 stitches. Finished the set anyway.Originally posted by gldendog:
Roth cant do much more than just talk during songs now, is almost completely bald and wears a breathe right strip when he performs.

His voice isn't what it once was. But the guy is 60 years old, and just can't put the power behind the vocals anymore.
thank you for strengthening my point.Originally posted by YourBuddyRayhad:
Disagree on the mic stand twirl. It was a Rod Stewart staple (back when he rocked w The Faces)

Rod poisoned his own well years ago - but you can't let that disturb Every Picture Tells a Story.Originally posted by kindbits:
I saw Rage in Philly on the Battle of Los Angeles tour (99 I think?) Good show until they went on a Mumia Abu-Jamal rant and almost started a riot.
Oh, Rod Stewart sucks. I can't stand him or anything he's ever done, Faces included. I'm not sure there is a single artist that evokes such a visceral reaction of hatred in me like Rod Stewart.
No. I didn't appreciate them enough until i got into my twenties. And by then, they were wrapping up their career.Originally posted by Chimpat:
Incredible album. Top 5 all time for me.
You get to see them live, MWG?
That ticket will be worth it, whatever it costs. I got to see them about six or seven times, one of the best live acts I've seen. Incredible show.Originally posted by Mr. Wade Garrett:

One day they will go back on tour and i will pay anything to be there.
On another note, Grateful Dead doing their Fare Thee Well tour this year, stopping in Santa Clara. May be one of those once in a lifetime things to go to.
The Grateful Dead's Fare Thee Well tour was in 1995. I used to love the Dead, then I realized listening to a bunch of old men "jam" for 20 minutes when a bunch of stoned toolboxes dance around makes me want to put a gun in my mouth. I never understood, the jamming nonsense. I want to hear songs. The jamming was never impressive to me either, just reminded me of a bunch of hippies in Vermont sitting around a camp fire with a bongo drum and a few acoustic guitars. I always hoped Belushi would show up and start smashing instruments.Originally posted by Mr. Wade Garrett:
