At this point, Goodell can save face by dropping it. Every second this is discussed, it's bad for them.

There's probably some truth to this. Regardless of your opinion of the outcome or whether or not Brady did anything wrong, you have to think once the investigation started they had only one course of action because it was Brady/Patriots...take it as far as they could. Anything else would've burned some of the other owners who feel Roger plays favorites (which he does) and killed them in the court of public opinion (which Roger is fully in tune to, see Ray Rice and AP)

I was in federal court last month and the judge told us that the federal criminal docket was so busy...it would likely be at least three years before we could get a civil trial. Somehow Brady and NFL get their whole thing done in weeks. Amazing
