Draft Kings vs. FanDuel

no state/ fed taxes on reservations.
So, for instance, the Oneida nation doesn't have to pay the .64 cent state and fed gas tax in NY on their gas sales. So they could undercut all local stations by that much. but that would crush local stations. So they came to an agreement to peg their prices to a couple cents under the average local price. So they just pocket that extra 64 cents a gallon. Same with cigarette cartons. That's basically printing money.

Good post. I guess the State/Feds pay for highways that lead to the doorsteps of these casinos. They proably have to play nice in teh sandbox.

That being said, why wouldn't a Mohegan Sun (not that far from Manhattan) just say, "F it," and open a sports book. Let the government come after them. Make some more wompum for the tribe.
Probably because they have become operators as well.. in AC (resorts) and the Poconos operation is a race track right? So probably more incentive to play nice. Otherwise why not. Look at CO and OR with weed. Christie's talked tough about taking on the feds... then he backed off.

So now its being reported that DraftKing employees have won more than 6M on FanDuel... which they claim is a small % of the total take but sounding even more "chancey." But by all means lets not have Vegas style sports gambling outside of LV. Much better to have people participating in fantasy games and the lottery.

Hello. Only a matter of time.

After reading this news I withdrew my cash from Fan Duel. I dont trust these grimey f*cks one bit. I'll let them swindle everyone else.

Deadspin with a very strong article yesterday about how the NFL helped shape the legislation that promoted gambling on fantasy but restricted other forms.

Here is the case for legal sports betting. The New Jersey guys will try and attack language to make sports betting in AC legal if/when Congress moves regarding these sites. Silver is a smart dude.
Christie claimed just last week on a radio interview that before the superbowl I will be able to place bets at Monmouth or the Meadowlands. He walked back on his last vow to take on the feds with this issue and with the Hard Rock folks being in on the meadowlands not sure if his buddy Adelson will like the idea of NJ sports gambling since he doesn't have a piece of the action.

Adelson will oppose all efforts, no question.
