Game 7 - Caps at Rangers

Actually he is - don't let the fact that your Devils are a hopeless mess blind you from every giving any Rangers player credit.

again, he is what he is at this point. a 40 point forward with size and speed. also, DMill, he is 6'3 225, not 6'4' 240.

which is still a good player. I am giving him plenty of credit, but lets not act like he is some stud All Star. hes not. I'm not sure what the Devils have to do with this? theres no one harder on them than me and I fully acknowledge they suck. but sick diss, I guess?

and DMil- throughout that series he was always doing things after the whistle. face washes, going at Holtby with his stick, etc. scumbag player.

Did you watch this series? Did you see the things the Caps and the Pens were trying to do? Did you watch Orpik? Did you watch Brouwer? Did you hear Ovechkin say they would have to run Lundqvist to be successful? Did you watch anything? That's the game - it's physical, and it's give and take. Rangers took plenty and sometimes you have to give it out. The knock on this team is that they are too passive. The biggest knock on Kreider is that is that he's not physical enough. Not a big enough mean streak for his size. BTW - according to Michelletti, he's skating at 230 plus. It's just laughable that you think his guy is a scum bag. For a couple face washes after the whistle in the playoffs????? You're joking right? This literally happens in every series that has ever been played by hundreds of players. It was practically Scott Stevens go to move, and I'm sure you used to touch yourself to him.

Again, not suspended or fined ONE TIME in his career. Any guy who plays physical is going to give and take a cheap shot on the ice and in the playoffs anything you can do without getting the box is fine. Any time you can be the guy that attracts the ire away from the skilled but less physical players is critical. I'd say more than half of what Kreider gets into stems from guys taking shots and whacks at him after he beats them with speed. Maybe more.

I get your dislike of the team, but this comment is probably the silliest thing you have ever said about the game. Seriously - a coupe face washes after the whistle in a scrum during the playoffs? You're not new to this game. Don't be ridiculous.

BTW - Kreider is inconsistent, but there are a lot of times where he is an absolute force on the ice, and their best player on a team that has had a good amount of success since he's been here. Again, a top 6 forward on any team in the league and first line guy on probably 2/3 of them.

240 lbs? Seems like a stretch. Not even sure why he want to play at that weight. I guess he's on the same weigh-lifting plan as Mo Sutton.

I think B$ Is a bit over the top with the scumbag reference. He's run a few goalies along the way, but not sure that should evoke the scumbag label.

Also, the definition of "power forward" has changed over time, huh? I enjoyed the days of Shanahan, Roberts, Tkachuk, Neely, etc where PF meant 40-50 goals and 150-200 PIM. Those were definitely good times.

Scoring so down it's painful. ONE guy had 50 this year. The last year Tkachuk scored 50 (1996) - eight guys had 50 or more.

Again, Kreider is playing at over 230 right now. Ovechkin is playing at 240. Makes the speed at which they play that much more insane. Also for the record, the 'biggest scumbag' in b$'s opinion has not even broken 100PIM in a season in his career yet. Tkachuck in his day? Over 200. Scott Stevens had over 100PIM FOURTEEN TIMES in his career. But a few unpenalized face washes in a scrum merits calling out. Just laughable b$ has taken this stance.

I like how you compare scoring to past years and say its not comparable since goal scoring is down, yet bring up PIMs of players from decades ago. great argument.

you love Kreider, and thats fine. but plenty of people have the same opinion of him as I do, and for good reason. it doesnt just spawn out of nowhere.

I Do think its funny that this bothers you so much though.

The only thing that bothers me is how much you know about the game and how stupid this notion is. They are not congruent. Glove to the face in a playoff game as your best example? That's utterly ridiculous.

Also, I know who else thinks Kreider is dirty. Montreal fans. Perhaps their defensemen should not chop guys down as they blow by them towards the net. That might have helped Carey Price. Kreider I think has exactly 3 goaltender interference calls in his career. (and one was Kris Letang literally shoving him into MAF, another was grazing the arm of Fasth outside the crease as he went around the net) - meanwhile in 2013-14 Brendan Gallagher had EIGHT goaltender interference calls IN ONE SEASON.

But seriously - do you have anything else beside gloves to the face in a scrum or poking at lose pucks near the net as proof? Anything at all???? Just a few other fans? You see the Mike Green cross check from behind? The Orpik elbow to the head? The Ovechkin slew foot? Anything like that? No? Something is telling me you have never actually played this game on ice on any level, have you?

16 guys had over 100 PIM this year, and 50 guys had 5 or more majors. Kreider not one of them. Such a scumbag on the ice!

Dmil, just curious, but is Kreider a close relative of yours? Your blood appears to be boiling over this.

not at all - just calling out stupidity. If there is anyone who could appreciate that its you. I like Kreider but he's not my favorite by any stretch. He's a helluva player to watch at times though. Not sure if you have seen his goal in game 6 - it was pretty a spectacular effort. He's had some big goals here.

I like Kreider. His physical skills are up there. Seems like a guy capable of getting big/important goals. I think his RS's can be better. For example, that skill set suggests 30 a year would be more his mean, but he may become that moving forward.

I think the scumbag tag is sort of odd and a bit over the top. But I've noticed that B$ doesn't like the cheap stuff all that much. I like my hockey players with an edge. Always have. Part of me misses the chippiness that doesn't frequent the game as much anymore. I always enjoyed the subplots that stuff would cause.

No one likes cheap shots but Kreider is more of a face to face player. He takes a lot, gives a lot and is in their grill. Nothing terribly sneaky. I am not at all opposed to a certain level of chipiness in a game. It's a physical sport and stuff happens. I do not like the stuff that hurts guys - leaving the feet, hits to the head, slew footing, cross checks form behind 3 feet from the boards - bad swats etc.

Kreider disappears in the regular season for stretches. In those stretches he doesnt engage enough physically. He needs that to get his game to where it needs to be. Needs to play with an edge. Guy goes hard to net all the time. I expect some contact to be the residual of that. He draws a lot of penalties and he takes some. It's gotta be part of his game.

This is going to be a very tough series. Bishop absolutely owns them (8-0) and they have a lot of forwards playing at a high level right now. Hedman has been dominant. Klein didnt really hurt them last series but he is going to need to be a helluva lot better this series. Going to contributions from all 4 lines here - and I doubt they can get away with St Louis being terrible much longer.

this is my entire point. yes, Kreider is a nice middle 6 player, but these guys (DMill is not alone in this) defend him like he is Wayne Gretzky. its ludicrous.

and Orpik's hit was not dirty. in fact, I believe I saw a quote that said Boyle was upset with himself for keeping his head down.

Defending like he's Gretzky? You must be new to the intellectual honesty club. Gimme a break. Someone called him the best player who ever lived?? I dont recall that. Someone said he is the best player in hockey? I don't recall that. Someone said he's the best player on the Rangers? Missed that too. You've been way off this entire discussion. Still can't cite me anything more than a glove to the face in a scum in a playoff game as reason for being a scum bag. You're having a bad night here. Just put the stick down and come back better tomorrow I guess.

PS - even Milbury and Keith Jones - Ranger haters both - said Orpik hit was dirty.

I haven't watched hockey all year but have been thoroughly enjoying watching the Rangers over the last few weeks. I wanted them to win but bmoney crying like this is going to make me root for them that much more. A Rangers Stanley Cup and Kreider winning the Conn Smythe Trophy might put him right over the edge. Could be an epic meltdown.

If the Rangers win the cup then I have to believe that Lundqvist is about 99.993% likely of winning the CS.

I've said numerous times it has been friends of mine who did this.

and yes, I have a friend who told me he would not trade Kreider for any player in the league. that is a fact.

who the hell are you even?

If I was a nouveau Nationals fan, I would have pointed out how many injuries the Phillies overcame in '09. But I wouldn't do that because the Phils didn't lose in the first round every year, and weren't focused on gilding the lilly by bolstering regular season accopmlishments, or records as of Memorial Day weekend.

Speaking of that, Mets seemingly insurmountable NL East lead down to 1.5. Still hunkered down for a long season of pitched battle with los Mets adp?
09 team overcame a lot of injuries? I don't recall. Took the MRS. To game 3 that year. Remember it was another Saturday night with a significant rain delay. Too lazy to look it up but recall Pettite beating the Phils in a key game 3.

As for this year's division: Nats will be 5 up by the break.

Tyler Johnson is something else. even strength goal, powerplay goal, and a shorthanded goal

Undrafted right?

I'd say this is the worst the game NYR has played since early December. They were awful. Lot of highly reliable guys had just awful nights.

Yeah well.....you give up a 3-on-5 shorthanded goal to go down 0-1, it's just not gonna be your night.
