Going on now: CoPope

Furthermore, why were there US Border Patrol agents in body armor outside of my TSA line?

I can't see your picture, so I put it on "Ignore".

To clarify, I'm not objecting to Border Patrol presence, just trying to understand it. Went on their website, doesn't seem to fall within their "regular" responsibilities.

On Saturday night I walked back to the car over Walnut St bridge. There were about five McNulty's floating around down there in a fairly small area of water.

I asked a cop friend and they were asked to help out. Basically any and every local, state and federal law enforcement agency was pressed into duty. Those TSA people were not local either. The local ones were working their normal jobs at the airports. These guys were bussed and flown in from other cities.

The bakery near my house was b*tching up a storm that there was no business -- so was Milkhouse -- all of Saturday. I would estimate about 25k people walked down my street on my block on Saturday/Sunday. I told the owner of the bakery to put a table outside with cupcakes and brownies outside, suddenly they started selling. It amazes me how dumb some business owners are.

So the "fake" number was, indeed, fake.

You have to know that you can't just "say" 860K and have that become reality. That would be like saying there was a cup on an empty table and expecting that by saying it, a cup would appear out of thin air.

Now that the first domino has fallen, the rest of the curtain gets peeled back. All of the articles have comments. I've seen that there was no TV coverage of the lines. Are the local news directors from North Korea?

Many thousands of people missed the mass entirely. If they had any idea from the authorities that they would not make it through the line in time, they could've tried to find somewhere to watch on TV. Or...being the 21st Century...maybe they could've hired a fifteen-year-old to write an app with real-time clearances at all gates?

It was a wonderful experience to see the Pope ride by, and it was a wonderful visit in it's entirety. That doesn't mean everything was gr8. Saying it was all gr8 is not going to make it so. The public was remarkably patient, and it might be time to thank them. I think their patience is underscored by the fact that nobody wants to start a civil discourse over whether the security measures impeded a religious gathering.
Now you are only 2 popes behind tjc.
