Comb or brush? I use a cheap comb from the drug store. Never understood what a brush was for, except women.

A brush is for brushing your hair. It may used by men or women. Anyone with hair, really. Even animals, I suppose. I've been using the same one for a couple decades now.

Is "fake" messy actually a thing that grown up males do? A brush like that doesn't cause my hair to move in any direction, unless I use a styling product like gel, in which case I might as well cover myself with axe body spray.

Straight comb, homie. With super-fine teeth.

Think you're barking up the wrong tree here. Let's find out…

I use a brush not unlike this one;

As opposed to a comb - after a towel dry - the brush gives you a little bit of the "fake" messy look. Going straight comb after the shower can have you walking around with that super clean part you see in law school photos.

I've been taking this approach for over two decades also. In those ensuing years, it seems most guys with hair have gone to the actual hair-"do", where the "fake" messy is achieved with all manner of salon-styled products.

It's not really a comb vs. brush world out there anymore. It's the hair-"do's" vs. the hair-"dont's".

Walk off?

Vidal Sassoon over here.

I'm 27 and no signs of hair loss yet. Definitely grays but I'm okay with them. Am I essentially safe or can hair loss strike at any time?

you're not out of the woods yet at 27, by any stretch.

hair is longer than it's been since my soph year in college. depending on how i handle it out of the shower it can look a number of different ways. have 3 different brushes, a straightener, and a blow dryer in my room. the mane is looking quite luxurious nowadays, rock the man bun at times. haven't cut it since sept '14, but i think i'm gonna trim it over the holidays.

You've got a ways to go. I'm 38 and the last couple years have not been kind to me. Still have it but thinning out at the top. Not enjoying it. Probably why I keep my beard, to compensate.

Probably a result of regularly standing too close to concert venue quality audio systems over the years - will take note and add them to the list of things to avoid

Ericw, please see your way out of this thread. You are not qualified to speak on the topic.

The solution here is to get a real man's haircut that doesn't need styling and save yourselve from looking like some frilly shithead. See: Johnny Unitas, David Robinson.

I generally agree with this. The simpler, the better. Early Derek Jeter is also accepted.
