Until next season starts I’m enjoying obsessing over how great a run the NCAA games were. Lots of articles from ESPN about this, but I haven’t noticed any about how dominating our run was in terms of minutes lead vs minutes trailed. I wonder where this statistic ranks in terms for the last 31 years. I've got to believe it's up in at least the top 5. I looked at the box scores and here is what I found.
For all 6 games:
Average time leading: 33 minutes
Average time trailing: 5 minutes
Average time tied: 2 minutes
The details for each game are:
Time leading (rounded to nearest minute)
UNC 19
OK 36
Kansas 26
Miami 39
Iowa 38
UNC Ash 40
Time Trailing (rounded)
UNC 14
OK 4
Kansas 12
Miami 0
Iowa 1
UNC Ash 0
In the first 3 games:
We never trailed UNC Ashville
We never trailed Miami
We trailed Iowa for 1 minute 28 seconds
We trailed OK for 3 minutes 42 seconds
