Kardasian's in Armenia

She's a no talent ass clown, but I will give her this much - she has always been aware of her Armenian roots and more so than any one else, she can get the message out there. Look at what is going on now - her trip to Armenia - no matter what her reasoning (exploiting for her reality show and would not be shocked at all if she was getting paid by either Armenia's government or outside groups) has garnered a lot of attention for both Armenia and recognition of the Genocide. She has almost 31 million followers on twitter, it's amazing exposure.

There are some Armenians that are appalled that she has become the de facto spokesperson for Armenians. This makes no so sense to me. There is a reason why the Jews get much more accomplished - less infighting. I have had always said Armenians need to take a page out of their book and treat their own as well as Jews do. At this point, anything that helps the Armenians is a good thing.

On a side note, a family friend is the one who planned the whole trip for whole Kardashian entourage. She is from here, but spends more time in Armenia nowadays and has run a travel agency there for about 10 years. 2 of her daughters (college aged) are the official translators for them. I have a seen a lot of pics of them all over standing next to Kim and Kanye.

Would take me too long to give a detailed answer to this, but I will try and be short and summarize.

Armenia had a bigger kingdom originally, and as happens in history they lost parts of it in wars etc. As a result many Armenians were born/raised in provinces of Turkey. When the Young Turks took power they were not happy that Armenians (who were Christians) were living among them and prospering. Much like the extremists Islamist's of today they wanted to create a caliphate, so they forced these Armenians to convert to Islam or be killed. Of course Armenians (1st Christian nation btw) refused. On top of that, many Armenian scholars, intellectuals, artists etc were rounded up and killed (this is where April 24, 1915 comes from as the main date of remebrance).

Fast forward, many Armenians were forced to flee their homes in Turkey and they spread all over the Middle East - Syria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon etc etc. Hence, an Armenian diaspora was created. Each of these areas had their own traditions and absorbed a lot of the culture of the country they were in.

On top of that, there are hard lines (political parties) over which Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Christians are split that carry over to this day. It's definitely more a thing of my parents generation. Armenians hold grudges like I have never seen, but that is the not the case as much with the younger generations that started being born/raised in America. It's actually this generation that has done the most for recognition of the Genocide which is way the cause has exponentially grown over the past let's say 20 years.

tl;dr - Genocide forced Armenians to scatter, they all had different culture/traditions, Armenians are stubborn and hold grudges, younger generation getting past that.

Racist.
Maybe. Had a good friend in high school who was Armenian and it always gave me a good laugh when the teachers would try to pronounce his last name. BC, great for football not great for pronouncing Armenian last names.

Just messin.

Also agree with your assessment of Armenian names. Some of them are mindboggling, and always end with "-ian."

Let's be real here, Turkey has become a joke of a country lately. Does anyone even take anything they say/do seriously anymore? It won't be much longer until the unrest amongst their own citizens leads to a potential overthrow of their government. And Turkey was supposed to be the model for democracy in the Middle East, right?

Kanye West had an impromptu concert in Yerevan (capital of Armenia) the other night. Armenia and the Genocide is getting a lot of buzz because of all this and it has been fantastic.

Sounds like a gr8 opponent for the neverending war machine to feed on. Can we pencil them in for an invasion in the mid-2020s? Or push it back a decade in case this Iran thing takes a while longer?

It's too bad that the segment of the gene pool the Kardashians came from managed to survive the genicide.

Pope the first one to call it a Genocide. Getting a lotta backlash but even more pub. Arak must be in heaven.
