Let's face it none of the receivers have exactly lit it up after 4 games. Even Gulyas disappeared against Penn. Chris Whitney didn't have a rocket arm but his receiving corp included Szczur, Harvey and White. Still waiting for the next generation of great receivers.
The offense has not been able to replace Livers, Monangai, Pettway, Hall & Kowalski.
Robertson tall status hid that the players replacing the aforementioned aren't ready.
Gulyas is a solid receiver, but more of a #2 than the go to guy. They have gotten very little from their TEs & other WRs. No separation from DBs except for a broken play here or there.
Their run game is average at best and that is the fault of a mediocre and now beat up OL & decent skill backs, but not close to what Monangai offered.
The defense must lead & make plays this season. The offense is pedestrian at best currently.
McClenton will be a very solid player. I like Phillips too. Slot will be fine.
They need to get speed on the outside. Most are possession receivers that are not making the defense respect them. Opposing DBs are sitting on their short routes with little fear of being burnt long.
Of course, the QB can't throw long passes if he doesn't have the time to set his feet.
Robertson and his uncanny ability to make a sack turn into a 20 yard scrabble hid the blocking issues & lack of receivers getting open.
W+M will tell us a lot. I hope the team is fired up to right the ship!!
