What made you realize that it was critical to clean up those areas? Why did you prioritize them over other areas?
Thanks for sharing this, tkuder. We've got a freshman golfer (one of the better D2 freshmen in the nation) at our school that is struggling to find his place in the world (yeah he's only a freshman but he wants everything figured out already). I'm his academic adviser and I speak with him regularly. He has a very strong urge to help others and, I think, he feels unsatisfied as a result. I'm going to pass this along to him.talked to this buddhist master-type lately (tulku lobsang is his name, he's real) and a big part of his whole thing is that you need to be healthfully balanced with sleep, food, and "love"
the sleep and food part is obvious - but very important. the love part he boiled down to trying to "like" people. and the way to do that is to help others and change yourself. trying to change others will lead to frustration and burnout, because it's never going to work. but if you can change yourself, you immediately change everyone else around you at once as a result (from a perception standpoint, or something like that)
there's a lot of obvious in it all, but there's something to it at the same time.
dont try to change the people around you. help them. change yourself
If he aspires to be a social worker he could help me with my golf game. Thanks for sharing this, tkuder.
