draft tonight. some moves already happening.

- COL traded for C. Soderberg's rights from BOS and signed him already
- OTT trading R. Lehner and Legwand to BUF for 21st overall (awful for BUF IMO)

hope some more big moves come.

Boston apparently trading Dougie Hamilton to Calgary

not really sure what the hell the Bruins are doing here

Cap problem and he was most likely going to get an offer sheet. This deal gives them a slightly better return than the compensation, and more immediate in what is probably a better draft than 2016, but we are on the same page. Kid looks like the kind of player you plug in on your blue line for the next 10 years.

Conversely, Calgary is building very interesting group of players here.

And now BOS has traded Lucic to the Kings (Yikes!) and now pick 13, 14 and 15. They have blown it up in Boston.

Calgary has the deepest defense corps in the league now

still don't get the Hamilton trade for Boston. especially since there are rumors they got offered better packages.

the Lucic one I like. he is due big money next year and he is the type of player that does not age well.

Ryan O Reilly traded to Buffalo

I really like what Buffalo has done (sans trading a 1st for RObin Lehner)

Flyers had a good night.

Devils traded a 2nd for Jersey boy Kyle Palmieri. I like that move, they have no RW depth

This has been a pretty awful day for NYR. Hagelin is a cap casualty but just about the last one you want to have. Guy is just a flat out good hockey player. Contributes offensively, often in big spots, one of the better penalty killers in the entire NHL, can take a hit, and of course fast as all hell. Great teammate too. And then giving away Talbot, who seemed to have some value, for late picks.

Dont know much about Emerson Etem other than the fact that he's been a rather noticeable disappointment so far, and he's not as good as Hagelin in any facet of the game. Disappointing even in a cap crunch.

I don't know much about the young players in this draft, but after reading about the guys the Flyers selected and watching some video I have to say I'm impressed. The defenseman looks like he could step in ASAP and the forward they got is opposite of normal Flyer's players - fast, great puck handler, and can score. I approve of Hextall.

Flyers took a russian in the first round. Maybe things really are changing.

So fair to say they choked at the draft too?

The Coyotes are a joke. To me that shows that this team needs to relocate ASAP and that the league should not be so bullish on expansion.

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings have terminated the contract of forward Mike Richards, the club announced today.

The club has issued the following statement and will not comment any further at this time:

“The Los Angeles Kings today have exercised the team's right to terminate the contract of Mike Richards for a material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player's Contract. We are not prepared to provide any more detail or to discuss the underlying grounds for the contract termination at this time.”

WOW! how the hell are they getting out of this one? Kings are masters of gaining cap space

Question is, what grounds are they doing this? What's the breach? I dont see the NHLPA just letting this one slide.

@iancmclaren: Richards' contract terminated for reportedly refusing to train in LA by same team that allowed Voynov to practice "by mistake." Good gord.

that is total BS. the league just making shit up as they go, again. remember when they let the Kings put a player who beat the shit out of his wife on LTIR?

Won't train in LA - not allowed. Getting caught in Vegas with bags of blow in your pockets? Allowed!

the Bruins just traded a 3rd round pick for Zac Rinaldo

Don Sweeney is NOT having a good first few weeks as GM, huh?

That cant be real. Surely someone has pictures on Sweeney. Or he's just trolling the city.

Nice deal for Columbus. None of those guys outside of Dano are that well regarded. Cap strikes again.

Overpaid for saad. Hawks sold high and got serviceable players in return. Nice move by Stan. Already setting up well for the Hawks.

I hear the NHL is thinking about adding teams. Why? Isn't contracting a better idea? Get rid of that god damn salary cap.

guarantee you didnt know any of those dudes before today

I know the Hawks fans won't care with all the Cups they've won, but they lost the trade.

Lots of pens fans are bummed they missed out on Saad because hes a local guy and would be a good fit with crosby or malkin. Saad is looking for $6.5 million supposedly, and the penguins just can't afford that.

Saad is a nice player but not worth 6.5.

WTF? Flyers building team from back forward?
