5 years ago there would have been some chatter. I blame this on the the Yankees being a poor team over the past 3 years.

snooooze. ill be on the golf course until 845 or whenever it gets too dark to see. Phils are not pleasant to watch and wont be for some time.

the ladies are on at 8PM on FS1 in the rd of 16.

Nice game for Franco. 4-4 2 HR 5 RBI. He should be the Phillies rep in the All Star Game.

Franco is the only reason to watch this team. I dont watch but for those who do - he is the reason. He's literally all they have. Besides Hamels and Papelbon - and they'll be gone soon.

Maikel and JP Crawford are raking. Nola is in AAA. Eflin and LIvely are doing alright. Got 3 guys hitting .300+ in Lakewood. Things are awful, but there are little nuggets to brightside about. Things will get interesting when they finally pull the plug on Howard, like they did on Utley.

You sound like a 4 for 4'er. I am disappointed.

Do you think they are benching Utley with the intention of not letting him get to 500 PAs so his contract for next year doesn't kick in?

Hamels basically missed 4 days. Pitching on Wed. Yawn.

Just read an article from one of the CoDB papers saying how the Yankees need to go get him regardless of what it costs. Read another over the weekend from a national guy ranking him #1 trade chip. Also stated a few other things yours truly professed prior to the season. Solid chance this works out.

Well, that doofus Sandberg said yesterday that he didn't even know about it. Really, dude? He also said that it won't play a part moving forward.

If they allow this guy to get 500 PA it will be hysterical. I couldn't care less about the 15 million, but keeping him under this threshold is the quickest way to move on from him. Appreciate everything he did, but time to cut the chord. He's traceable than Howard right now.

trading Hamels and getting something valuable in return will be able at least give Ruben an atta boy before he is fired on August 1st.

this is Utleys last season. they will release him in the offseason and they will do everything they can to keep hi under 500PAs.

Sanberg is a dope. love to see him leave.

I feel bad that this is what you root for.

What does the Yankess farm system look like? Any top guys they would move for Hamels?

I do t think it's anything special. They have a really good pitching prospect. Their top OF prospect is Aaron Judge, who was just promoted to AAA. I think they have a good catching prospect.

Phillies need 2 of 3 for Hamels.

Absolutely. And it's not like he's hitting .270 and they're screwing him over. He does not deserve to be out there right now.

This.

If he was performing reasonable. Say .250-260 ish then I could live with it.

Hernandez does everything better than him right now.

O'Sullivan vs Sabathia tonight...o/u on # of HRs given up by both - 5.5. I'll take the over.

scary thing about the Phillies is that they really have know one pushing to take Utleys spot. Hernandez is ok and deserves to play over Utley but he is a AAA player. the Phils are historically bad. wasnt Galvis supposed to be this stud SS or 2B? he cant play at all.

Galvis was never dubbed a "stud".....he's a slick fielder (makes too many errors on routine plays) who can play anywhere. Hernandez can play anywhere, too. Not as regarded defensively. Faster and better athlete than Galvis. Also, has more plate discipline. Both switch-hit so that's a plus. Ultimately, both are probably 4th/utility infielders. However, one could start if you get solid MLB production from the rest of the infield. Not everyone needs to be or will be a 280+ hitter.

Utley needs to sit and absolutely shouldn't reach that 500 PA marker when hitting .185.

The money isn't that big of a deal because the organization isn't poor, but that 15 mil could be put to better use next year. On top of that, it's another player from the old guard moving on. I think that's more important at this point.

if Hernandez and Galvis are the replacements than the franchise is in trouble , obviously. Crawford has a lot of pressure on him to be the next SS.

Dude, no one is saying they are the replacements long term. But teams don't have 8 position All-Stars. You could play either one of them if the production at 3B, SS, 1B, and two of the OF spots is MLB worthy. What don't you understand?

Burrs - why arent you the GM of every Philly team? you seem know everything and you can be AD and head coach of all Nova sports too.

Well, I don't know everything, but I'm fairly confident I see things a little more clearly than you do.

All I'm saying is that every good baseball teams have guys who are just ordinary manning everyday positions.

Phillies/Rangers are having ongoing trade discussions involving Hamels. It's reported that Hamels would wave his no-trade clause.

no you don't

stop it.

Seriously - all the friggin time. Especially since the late 1990s. Simple fact. Giambi, CC, Teixiera, heard it again and again. You might want to get out a bit more. And it's not like it's a new thing. They have been buying talent forever. And they have never been shy about it. Their fans don't know or talk about this?

I can remember dozens of calls into FAN where fans were saying we'll sign this guy and that guy when they are FAs - and Chris Russo going crazy "hey Yankee fans - can you let the rest of baseball have ONE PLAYER!!" Before that I remember as a kid Yankee fans telling me Gooden's going to look great in pinstripes.

Honestly - where have you been? There was an article in the post a couple weeks back about Harper being a Yankee. It's what they do and it's what their fans talk about all the time.

Again, less so these days with Hal on the books.

Before Hamels signed his extension, I definitely heard multiple Yankees fans remark that he was a lock to sign there.

There's still something f*cked up about how the Phillies handle promotion in their farm system. Their AAA roster has been chock full of 29 year olds for years. They seem to prefer letting their prospects toil away in the lower levels for a long time.

Tex and CC were what, 6-7 years ago? I'm talking about nowadays. REAL Yankees fans do not brag about signing top players of other teams. just stop.

bitter, bitter fan.

They are talking about signing Bryce Harper already. Your head is in the sand man.
