by far the most racially divisive telecast ever but par for the course in Barry O's America

- white people

I've seen 2 white presenters all night. Too bad no bruvs and sistahs are watchin, yo.

Guessing the revenant is one of Leo's worst movies from a strictly entertainment perspective.

The more boring the movie, the more praise the oscars gives.

Can't believe rocky didn't win best supporting actor. That would have made the night.

Stallone robbed.

Only in a 5th tier city like the CoP, would this not only be newsworthy but front page no less

Revenant was good but too long. Ton Hardy was also the best actor in the movie. Spotlight I'll eventually get around to seeing. The others that were nominated - zero interest.

I saw two movies last year, Spectre and the Snoopy/Peanuts movie. I'm sure there might have been one or two more. Probably one down the shore when it rained.

Seemed like Leo knew he was winning by that smug look on his face - but he probably always has that.

I don't know how anyone could watch a second of these award shows.

I love the oscars. I don't watch many movies generally, but for some reason I love the oscars.

I thought Chris rock did a poor job though. This year's ceremony in general. Kind of sucked

Spectre was just OK. Skyfall was better.

I hate movies. You can't tell an interesting story in 2 hours. That's why I prefer a well-written to TV series that spans 13 weeks per season.

Interesting fact.......that i don't care about, but, still interesting........Bloomberg News reports that Oscar winner "Spotlight" has earned $62 million while "Mad Max: Fury Road" has earned $360 million. So, the viewing public's choice of entertainment differs significantly from the Entertainment Academy.

I'm glad they're trying to move things along a little more but the show still ran from 8-12+. I liked the addition of the "thank you scroll" as the winners were walking up to the stage but they should institute a game show buzzer if they mention anyone from the stage that is already thanked in the scroll. That's the only way to keep the show moving. Let the winners get up there, make their liberal comment about global warming and gay rights then move on to the next hacky bit with Tina Fey or The Minions.

Another option is to let the winners accept the trophy, take a bow then head backstage to a press conference to say whatever they want. Their comments can be broadcast on YouTube or picked up by whatever news outlets find it relevant but the in theater and TV audience doesn't have to listen to it. The show could be over in an hour.

How bout you just televise awards for what people want to see. Most don't care about best makeup or set design. Pick the top 10 categories like actors, actresses, director, writing, etc and broadcast the rest online.

If you watched the Oscars turn in your man card.

That is not interesting at all. Fifty Shades of Grey sold a lot of copies; the reading public enjoyed it. Does that mean it should win awards?

They will never shorten the show because this is how the academy makes their money. It's a one shot annual event and that has to cover their annual budget. It's why they fill it with stuff that nobody cares about (dance numbers, pre-taped bits, etc.). They hold the big awards to the end to keep viewers along for the commercial ride.

Saw Spawtlight. As expected, a certifiable snoozefest, but that's standard fare for any Oscar winning Best Picture.

Honestly, you must not have a soul if you thought Spotlight was a snoozefest.

Hardly. Having already known most of the inner details of the story made my expectations higher than they should've been I suppose. I was hoping to learn more new info and that didn't really happen. Nor was the story told in they typical Hollywood way where they inject drama. I don't know. It wasn't awful. Best Picture worthy? Come on. It only won because of the subject matter and that it was a really down year for movies. Revenant was better.
