Patriots/Deflategate

If it's so insignificant, why would Brady lie about doing it? It completely ruins his image. Peyton Manning would never do something like this, that's what people will say.

Not sure what the ownership rules are, but Bob Kraft has the resources and attitude to sue the NFL, and push back with a ton of effort. I'm not a Pats fan, but the punishment seems arbitrary, and there are so many holes in the story to begin with. Seems fairly easily torn to shreds in a courtroom.

Please don't be a dolt and compare the rice suspension to the Brady

this. people keep forgetting the Rice thing was done under the old rules.

now, those rules were shitty too, but the NFL at least admitted they ****ed up with that.

I think the difference between Brady's penalty and any of the wife/girlfriend beaters is that the NFL doesn't want anyone screwing with their product on the field. Anyone who jeopardizes the product on the field will receive the wrath.

Social media in NYC hilarious. I'd say 75% of all posts I've seen about this either say "4 games is a joke!", "this is a slap on the wrist," "it should have been the entire season," and/or "take their championship away."

How is four games a slap on the wrist? It's 1/4 of the season. And vacating a title? On what planet would that ever happen?

This whole thing is an absolute joke. 4 game suspension for what? This is just a BS attempt by the NFL to repair their public image. What a joke.

As a Patriots fan i'd have no issue with the suspension if they had a smoking gun. This circumstantial BS and saying because Brady didn't cooperate is the reason for the penalty is absurd. Would you hand over your cell phone to a group that couldn't keep its first round draft picks quiet from twitter before they were announced on TV?

Brady's appealing and he'll either get in knocked down to two games or none at all. This whole thing is a smoke and mirrors show put on by the NFL to avoid people calling into question their lack of institutional control.

I would hand over my cell phone to prove my innocence. Difference here is, Brady knows he lied.

I disagree. Especially if you have the other two cellphones of the people you suspect of receiving the text messages/phone calls/or emails. Why do you need both the sender and the receiver.

You think for 2 seconds that personal information would not have leaked its way onto the internet? The NFL hasn't been able to keep confidential information from leaking at any point (whether intentional or unintentional) even back prior to the days of twitter.

any chance the NFL just goes away? it has become an uncontrollable media monster. if there wasnt gambling and fantasy football would people care about the NFL as much as they do now?

So, are you saying you believe Brady did nothing wrong?

I think he's saying that with the NFLs lack of institutional control, there will probably be a Prince Thomas Brady, the Son of Nigeria, sending emails out en masse.

the NFL agreed to the "more probable than not" thing. this isn't a court of law. you don't need 100% proof.

whether you agree with that or not, its what everyone agreed to.

I don't know, they make more money now than ever.

Here's my phone to prove my innocence and Tom Brady dick pics for everyone.

Do I believe Tom Brady did nothing wrong...more probable than not. Is it as plausible that the equipment managers were inspecting the balls to ensure they were at 12.5 psi after the refs because Brady is a control freak....I believe so. Is it also more probable than not that if the NFL was so concerned with game balls that they would record the PSI during the referee inspection, therefore providing all the evidence they needed, absolutely and that if the NFL was so concerned with the PSI game balls at half time of the AFC Championship game they would've recorded all 12 of the game balls used by the Colts....yes to that as well.

BMoney is correct, the NFL agreed to 'more probably than not'. My issue is that 'more probable than not' was on a report paid for by the NFL. If the NFL paid for the opposing view point to be discovered you can guaranteed that's what would've been in the report.

The NFL had visual proof of the Vikings heating their footballs and they received a warning and I believe a $25k fine. The NFL has a report which can only prove more probable than not Brady was involved and he's suspended for 4 games. You don't see any issue with that?

Aaron Hernandez murder sprees are not walking through that locker room door, noone will even think about the NFL until September.

Would never be able to tell you are a Pats fan. ;)

Don't underestimate Goodell. He'll drum up some wacky personnel situation or poorly handled crime punishment. He's just looking for a headline. He's worth every penny that he makes.

I think we're due for another Sean Payton/Bounty -type scandal. Maybe some dirt on super-intense Jim Harbaugh - "he was always punching players in the balls to fire them up". That would be a safe one since he's gone to college. An owner circumventing cap rules with illicit payments would be good too. Haven't seen that since the Timberwolves and Joe Smith, right?

Michigan just released to the NCAA Harbaugh already committed 4 minor recruiting infractions.

JH response on twitter was no good deed goes unpunished.

i wouldnt want to be within 5 feet of him if i was a football player.

there was plenty of evidence. This isn't a federal court. It's a private corporation, they don't need to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt. That might be the worst argument out there.
