Mark was an outstanding football player at nearby Cardinal O'Hara High. He had a number of college offers. Chose Villanova where he played from 1975 thru 1977.Marketing major. Senior year he was a teammate of Howie Long and Joe Arcidiacono a good football player who is more well know as the father of Wildcat hoopster Ryan. Another teammate was Joe Clancy, current head of the US Secret Service. Vince Thompson was a super back while Mark played at Nova. Mark was very active with the alumni at O'Hara and Villanova.
