Ruben Amaro Jr

Wow. Has he no shame? He did say he wanted to manage one day. Guess he thinks this is how to get there.

Good for him. He stays in the game at a low pressure position.

From gm to first base coach. Interesting career path as I've never seen that before.

More interesting "career arc"......amaro or ickey woods (nfl RB to door-to-door frozen food salesman)?

Odds that Ryne Sandberg ever collects a baseball related paycheck again? Other than autograph sessions in the CoC?
He should just be a Cubs ambassador. I never liked him as a manger but it was nice to see him throw out the first pitch in a playoff game this year. He seems like an honest, genuine guy - just not cut out to manage.

No chance in hell Booben orchestrated that Rangers trade.

I'm pretty sure that Sandeberg burned all his bridges with the Cubs jockeying for Hall of Fame support and then trying to become the Cubs manager 5-6 years ago. He means well but isn't that bright.

I want to organize a bus trip to a Red Sox game, maybe in Baltimore, and get tickets on the 1st base line and heckle him all game.

Ryno is on perfectly good terms with the Cubs. He threw out the first pitch in the first home game against the Cards. Many who have known him share the sentiment in your second sentence.

He managed in their minor league system for 4 years, got passed up for the MLB job when Pinella left. Then he left to manage CoP AAAers. And they were on perfectly good terms the whole time?

Apparently Theo Epstein always liked him and considered trying to bring him into the Boston organization years ago. Tom Ricketts visited the minor league affiliates when his family bought the Cubs, and apparently Ryno respected him for that, and they've gotten along despite him not getting the nod when Piniella was let go. I get this from the crew currently in charge so for all I know this is BS and he was mad at the Cubs for several years, but he's moving back to Chicago and on good terms now.

And when those tickets aren't as good as you thought and the heckling doesn't go as expected, then you can call the ticket office and try to get a refund.
